"Nice little walking trail around the prairie. The cabins are nicely restored and are a time capsule reminding us of a simple but tough life."

"Visiting this site helps you visualize and comprehend life on the prairie as it might have been experienced by the early settlers. Most of this site is filled with prairie grasses and other prairie plants while a small strip is home to a couple of period buildings. It’s a smaller setting that’s definitely off of the beaten path but I tend to prefer stumbling upon the hidden gems to dealing with the over hyped and over crowded."

"Two components to this site: a small area of restored prairie and three historic buildings ("log cabins") relocated to the site and partially restored (newer chimney structure, for example. The site lacks self-service interpretive signage or literature at this time. Grounds are well-maintained. No schedule of when on-site interpretation is provided was found. A guess is that the primary audience might be school groups."

"This small hidden place is a gem to visit! A person could easily spend a couple of hours enjoying this location. Everyone is super friendly and very helpful. This place is clean and inviting. Staff is on hand to provide information on the location and time tours if you so choose. Just behind the village on the west side is a natural wildflower prairie. It's burnt off yearly to ensure proper development. Enjoy my photos and make sure to stop for a visit. Food is available in the city of Virginia, IL."
