Reviews of Wild Bill Hickok State Memorial
"One day, I drove through Troy Grove and saw the sign for Wild Bill Hickok's memorial, and I had stop and see i. I know some but not of Wild Bill Hickok. I was amazed to know that he was raised in IL. It gives a little more information about him and his family. There is also a memorial placard for Prudence Candell. An educator and a women's rights advocate. If you are near Troy Grove, IL, you should stop and see this"
"A very nice state park.taken care of .and is an interesting place to visit"
"This site was set aside to commemorate the birthplace of ‘Wild Bill’. That said, there are no historical buildings or other structures remaining here. It’s open space with a marker, the bust, and a sign or two summarizing his families presence and history. It’s a small but beautiful setting. It’s a tribute to a well known, well respected, historical figure. Well worth visiting if you want to ‘walk in the footsteps of’ or ‘pay your respect to’ such a man but maybe not if you come expecting a museum-like experience. Personally, I enjoyed seeing it, as I did when I visited Deadwood."
"Its always nice to visit places where legends were born. Now I've been to his birthplace, stood where he died in Saloon #10 and Mt. Moriah Cemetery where he's buried. RIP Bill."
"Nice place to visit, only about 7 minutes north of I-80 via I-39 or IL-251. If you are in the area, get some history!"
