Reviews of 801 Fish
"801 Fish is overpriced. I assume it's overpriced because of the location and also because of the freshness of the fish. The food itself is ok. The shrimp & shishito tempura was mostly breading, no seasoning, and overcooked. The brussels sprouts were good, the mussels were delicious. The sauce the mussels came in was nice and well-seasoned. The drinks were good but definitely not necessary to be $16 - $18 dollars for an 8oz cup that was mostly ice or a huge ice cube. The entrees were good. The Blue Snapper and the halibut were tasty, slightly overcooked. The garnish was nice as well. to pay $40- $50 for a smedium-size fish was overpriced. Our server, Robin was great. She had great knowledge of the dishes and made good recommendations based on the menu. She was attentive and made sure we were doing well throughout our meal. She was friendly and made pleasant conversation. Our food came out in good timing, and the hostess was nice. I am grateful they validate parking. They do have valet service. The restaurant itself is a nice place. Loved the decor and the ambiance. The music was a nice touch. This is my second time coming to 801 Fish and I can say its an ok experience."
"Excellent across the board. We had fried rice as one of many appetizers. Which is pictured. We also had salmon, and lobster. All very delicious."
"A great meal, with a terrible ending...... My wife and I tried 801 Fish for the first time for our anniversary dinner this year on October 20th. We started off the evening with the Tuna Tartare and Octopus. The tuna was great but the octopus was very tough. We talked to our waiter about it and they removed it from our bill which was great. My wife then had the lobster bisque, which she loved. For entrees we had the salmon and the swordfish, both of which were very good. We ended our night with the bread pudding. Overall a great meal, until we got home that night.... After our 30min drive home, both my wife and I instantly got sick multiple times throughout the evening. Neither of us felt good most of the next day either. I am not sure which item gave us this food poisoning because we both ate some of every item on the menu, but it was the worst experience I have ever had with food poisoning. The next day I emailed the restaurant to inform them of our experience, but never received a reply from them. I cannot recommend this restaurant after this experience and a failure to respond. A $200+ meal with a terrible ending. Try at your own risk......"
"You will pay at least $50 per entrée here. The average bottle of wine is about $150 but they do have a few bottles for approximately $60. Here’s my rating of each food item we tried: Chilean Seabass: 3/10 No seasoning/flavor whatsoever Red Snapper: 5/10 Insufficient seasoning Fried Lobster Rice: 1/10 This was TERRIBLE! Wedged Caesar salad: 10/10 Excellent This place was an awful disappointment. The food and service are not commensurate with the menu prices! Our waiter was extremely mediocre- good guy just not a good waiter. He was completely unfamiliar with the wine list. He also allowed us to order a dish with undisclosed pork, even though we made it clear that we did not eat pork. He then offered no recourse once we discovered that the dish contained it. The restaurant is GORGEOUS but the menu and the service do not warrant the fancy outfits and high pricing. I do NOT recommend!"
