Reviews of Diana Kenyon, MD, FACOG
"I’m not here to bash Diane Kenyon or say how horrible she is. I want to make it aware that she does not listen to her patients concerns or how they wish to proceed with THEIR bodies. (This is an issue I find with most doctors around the Rockford area). I am in my second trimester of pregnancy and I had been seeing Kenyon since my first OB appointment. I had received an ultrasound prior to this visit through a clinic, and to be quite frank, they made me more comfortable than Mercy Health’s ultrasound tech. The first time I met Kenyon, I didn’t know exactly how I felt. I did not feel welcomed or embraced, but I left it at she had just helped deliver a baby and she was tired. I never once am going to criticize her personality, but rather her skills or lack there of, as a OB and midwife. I wanted to feel close to the woman who was going to help me push out my first born, but I knew it wasn’t a guarantee. I just wanted a OB/midwife who was going to guide me and listen to my concerns, which I did not get so far with Diane Kenyon through my pregnancy so far. I continued my monthly appointments like normal, keep in mind I had very bad nausea. I always made the nurse and Diane Kenyon aware of it, but it was seemed to be pushed aside or my concerns are not valid enough. After my first visit with Diana Kenyon, she prescribed me an antidepressant. I was shocked that it was allowed to take them during pregnancy, but since she was a “professional” I didn’t think twice. I wish that I would’ve because I had horrible reactions. Extreme nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. I am not blaming her for these symptoms, but what I discovered after reading through some sources shocked me. Zoloft, the medication she prescribed, had bad side effects listed along with concerns for the baby after birth. I was furious because I had some doubt about these pills, but I trusted my provider like I should be able to. “About 30 percent of babies whose mothers take SSRIs will experience neonatal adaptation syndrome, which can cause increased jitteriness, irritability and respiratory distress (difficulty breathing), among other symptoms.” This source is cited from John Hopkins and it is very frightening!!!! The worst part is none of these possibilities were brought to me prior to taking this pill. That is when I essentially lost all trust for Diane Kenyon, and I decided I wanted to go all natural. I only wanted to take medication if necessary and no risks to baby or me. So moving along through the months, I contact Diane Kenyon about work and nausea concerns. She tells me it can’t be addressed through MyChart, and she schedules me an appointment. I knew that my concerns would just be “solved” with more medication, but I had hopes to communicate one last time before I resorted to finding another OB. Needless to say, she just prescribed me more drugs for nausea that I refused to take and I left the appointment. I wasn’t mad or angry, just disappointed again. That day I called OSF Saint Anthony and requested to seek care from them. I had my files and records sent to them and I was just awaiting approval that I was in. I still have no went to my appointment with OSF, but I have high hopes. Ive heard many great things and many of my close family and friends have delivered there. I would not recommend Diane Kenyon to ANY woman who cares about having a say about her and her baby’s wellbeing. I am so glad I got the courage to switch providers in my second trimester, rather than my third. Never settle for a provider that doesn’t listen to you and makes you feel like you can’t have a say in your own body! Thank you to anyone who read all of this, I just felt I should share my experience."
"My daughter was seeing Diana Kenyon and this Dr. chewed my daughter out in her 35th week of being pregnant. My daughter all of a sudden discovered she has diabetes through this appointment. Dr. Kenyon was extremely patronizing and saying that she should've known she had diabetes and how irresponsible my daughter was that she wasn't eating better. My daughter didn't have a clue she had diabetes until then. She was NEVER told that she should be on a special diet. She left from that appointment crying. She was very, very upset and stressed out!!!!! Dr Kenyon had NO right to put such a burden on mother and baby!!! What kind of gynecologist treats a mother and her baby in such a horrible way? Then to top it all off, Dr. Kenyon had her tech tell my daughter that another gynecologist will have to deliver her baby because she is refusing to. It's just as well. I We wouldn't trust her to have a caring attitude while delivering my grandchild! Get this....Dr. Kenyon made an appointment for my daughter with a gynecologist that has Awful reviews. How mean is that? My daughter made it clear that she wants someone with good reviews. REALLY???? What Dr. does that??? Dr. Kenyon was so unprofessional, disorganized and a terrible bedside manner. She treated my daughter terrible. Not only are hormones all over the place during pregnancy, but to have a "trusted" professional that is supposed to work for you and your child ,treat you with such disregard, is so very wrong!!"
