"Writing this review based on our experience filing 2021 taxes after 10+ years using HR Block for annual filing. We had difficulty working with this office, it did not seem organized and familiar with some military basic functions like childcare. The preparer incorrectly calculated our federal filing, which resulted in us overpaying the IRS by over $4,000. The IRS charged us a penalty for overpayment, which HR Block states in their policy they should pay, due to incorrect preparation, but we have been unable to reach the preparer or anyone who will work with us to recoup the penalty fee. The central HR Block office has been uncooperative with dealing with this. This has continued for the past year, with no resolution. The preparer also did not fax/send our military orders along with our state filing, which resulted in multiple actions required on our part to work with the state to resolve this issue (the state also issued us penalties with this, which we were able to waive). I have used HR Block for over a decade for individual and joint filing, and this experience has caused me to never use HR Block again, especially if they won't stand by their stated policies of paying penalties on incorrectly filed reports. I am in the process of having all of our previous years reviewed to identify other errors, but an error of this magnitude (which we questioned multiple times, but were told was correct by the preparer) is a deal-breaker for us."

"I really enjoyed the experience and how quick and easy it was, however it was fairly expensive going this route. That is the only reason I selected a 3 for recommending friends because I know some people don't have 300$ to spend on their taxes to get done when the Army offers free service."
