Reviews of Houston Dog Ranch
"Used to come for dock diving back when Michelle was working here and she was fantastic. I eventually moved, but up until recently would still recommend them for their great dock setup anytime a houston local would ask due to my past experiences there. They are now knowingly hiring trainers, who not only have a known track-record of abuse/neglect--but who is also responsible for multiple dog deaths in the span of several months. Sarah is absolutely unremorseful about 3 known deaths that happened under her watch (which include a 2 month old puppy being mauled by a dog, all while she was under a court-ordered temporary restraining order to cease all business), and has blocked all victims and individuals who have spoken up about her neglect in the past from HDR social media in an attempt to cover her tracks. Extremely disappointed in HDR for knowingly taking on a trainer like this. ETA: Einstein did not die of a "mysterious illness", he died due to his internal temperature being 110 by the time he arrived DOA at the vet. Sarah never willingly took "time off". She only took time "off" to create a new LLC, and start rebranding herself since the community was beint warned of her previous company. Even though a dog busted down the fence, the situation with the puppy was 100% preventable as she was under a mandated TRO to stop all business. The puppy never should have been on her property to begin with. And lastly, the dog that died of "pneumonia" died due to a punctured lung. Sarah confirmed this herself in screenshots around the time of his death. We have all had family deaths and tragedy happen, yet it is even more disappointing seeing a facility use that to excuse not only deaths but also neglect. If an animal professional is mentally unfit due to outside circumstances to continue basic care, they should send those dogs back home with their owners. Even if by some stroke of ungodly terrible luck, all 3 dogs happened to be a sheer mistake, that doesn't dispute the fact that multiple clients came forward with shocking stories of their dogs coming home infested with giardia, emaciated, chemical burns from urine stains, no training done, and in many cases the dogs also being traumatized from the environment. Even if none of those deaths happened, it still doesn't erase that Sarah is not fit to have any dogs under her care. Nor does it dispute the fact that during her hearings, she denied all responsibility and changed her social media to state, "I do what I want" all while families were grieving the loss of their beloved pets and all they wanted was some accountability and sympathy."
"Houston Dog Ranch is heaven on earth for dogs! I am keeping my son’s golden retriever while he is out of the country in graduate school. Butters was having issues being around other dogs, so I booked a private cabin with its own yard to board him a few times when I had to leave town. Each time everyone on the staff was super helpful and very polite, and HAPPY! These people love what they do. I knew he needed extensive training, so I enrolled him in their 3 week program. His trainer, Sarah, was amazing. She is a true professional and very good. She had him doing things I didn’t think were possible and by the end of training he was running free with other dogs having the time of his life! He is now a proper gentleman. I’m excited to take him out and about around Houston and my son has peace of mind knowing that he will be okay around other dogs. Many thanks to the entire team at Houston Dog Ranch!"
"Just sent our 80lb lab puppy for training. He was walking us and now happily walks on a leash without pulling. Jeff the trainer was excellent. The facilities are very nice. Clean and spacious and I feel comfortable leaving my dogs here. Our puppy is also happily sleeping in his kennel after months of us trying to have him do so with him waking us up constantly. I board our lab puppy and 10 year old wheaten terrier here. They love the board & play."
"Houston Dog Ranch has been amazing working with our special rescue Dobermans who come to our program. Many of these beautiful dogs are lost, let down and need some rehabilitation. The trainers and staff at Houston Dog Ranch have been instrumental in helping them get into their furever homes. We can’t praise them enough, for their compassion and commitment to our mission.
