"I asked for an assessment for my elderly mothers home and what she might need. The appointment was for 9am. The woman arrived, asked 1 question, and basically tossed a folder at me and said she didn't qualify. She was out the door by 9:05. Terrible attitude and communication skills need improved. The folder went directly into the round file as soon as she left. If they had asked me a few more questions on the phone, this bad scenario could have been avoided."
"Numerous reports of elderly abuse and self- neglect were reported anonymously. The counselor in carterville, Il, who invested the case, disclosed to the victim the names of the person who made the reports. She also allegedly convinced the victim that there was no merit to the complaint and to stay in her home even though the home clearly needs to be condemned. Since the initial complaint, the victim has been swindled out of more than $8,000. For more than seven years, she's had no running water, no operating restroom facilities, and no adequate heat and air. There is no safe entrance/exit. The ceilings and floors are weak and caving. The building structure is unsafe and not sound. The victim has fallen several times and suffers memory challenges. Every effort has been made to advocate for her safety and physical care. There is a lack of initiative to dive deeply into concerns and make appropriate recommendations, and follow up with resources. Prompt assistance would have increased longevity and improved her daily living environment. Inaction and unprofessionalism are unacceptable! It has directly impacted her safety. What are the goals of the agency? Who sets the standards? How do you track the follow-up of couselors? How are counselors held accountable? I question the integrity, credibility, sincerely, and reliability of investigation and commitment to follow through."
"I had one caregiver for 5 years, Tina was fantastic. Since then I’ve had 3 others, 2 quit and 1 took 1 day from me. I’m not getting help most of the time on Tuesdays because someone who I will not name is forgetting to put me on the schedule. If they do they don’t call me on Mondays to let me know who’s coming and what time! Otherwise I’m very thankful for what help I get on Fridays for 3 hours. I’m allowed 8 hours, be nice if I could get at least 5-6 each week because I need it very much."
"I am very pleased with the services at Shawnee Alliance. My social worker helped me with housekeeping and finances. Tracy Norris is so kind & patient with me. Everyone has been so kind, professional, and helpful!"
"Everyone I spoke, with at the office, was very friendly helpful. Amanda signed me up for Medicare and notified Medicade for extra help for me. She explained what she was doing, and told me I could call anytime I have a question."
