Reviews of Sage Veterinary Imaging - Round Rock
"I was able to take my cat here to get same-day ultrasound. Dr. Sage and her team worked quickly to get the test done. They provided me and my regular veternarian with results that helped get my kitty feeling better. Thank you!"
"Our dog was very ill and required imaging. Dr Sage and the staff were compassionate and professional. I will use them again if the need arises"
"Sage veterinary is such a wonderful business. They make sure you feel comfortable while you’re for baby is going through all kinds of tests. They give you information so that you know what’s next. While you wait they have a facility for you to work or a quiet place. I recommend them for your imaging needs."
"I am a referring veterinarian and have sent several clients here for various imaging services. My personal cat was also treated here with radioactive iodine. Efficient, prompt service in a beautiful facility. Highly recommend!"
"I brought my cat in for the IR 131 treatment on August 21st and took her home August 23rd. She seemed extremely lethargic, didn't want to eat or drink, and couldn't support herself to walk. After two days of calling Sage and trying to figure out what we needed to do and what could be happening, I took her into her regular vet. They said she was over 10% dehydrated, gave her a sub-q injection, and told me to take her to the ER if she got worse. That night she urinated on herself and seemed like she was about to pass away, so we made an emergency trip where $5,200 and two days later she came home after having critical liver and potassium levels from severe dehydration. When I called Sage to ask if she had been drinking or eating anything for the three days while there they said they thought so "because her water bowl was dirty" and they weren't allowed to stay long enough to really check on anything else. I got no information on how she was really doing while there except "good", but when she came to me she literally couldn't walk she was so ill from stress and dehydration. One tech at the ER said she used to work at Sage and this does happen sometimes. She relapsed four days later since she was still not eating or drinking enough and had to go back to the ER for 5k more of fluids, where she then picked up either a URI or distemper from the isolation room and is now in even more critical condition. It has been two weeks since her visit with Sage and I'm not sure if she will make it. Sage never provided ANY information on adverse affects or what could be causing this with the treatment even though I'd called in a panic several times. If I had known the potential side effects, even rare ones, or that they didn't monitor animals closely during their stay there, even just to check if they are looking sick or dehydrated with a skin tent test while changing litter/water, I NEVER would have subjected my pet to this. Not only has their apathy and lack of communication endangered my pet, it's endangered *me* as I've spent cumulative hours directly covered in, cleaning, or holding a cat covered in radioactive urine and countless more hours longer than their recommended limits comforting and caring for her in close proximity so that she doesn't die. I still haven't been able to find just how dangerous this is- am I at a greater risk of cancer in the next decade or is it as radioactive as standing near a microwave? Cannot believe they don't monitor animals in their care closer for adverse symptoms or provide enough info on risks and status back to pet parents. Incredibly dangerous bordering on malpractice. EDIT: as a response to Sage, after over 21k in medical bills with multiple radiographs, ultrasounds, negative tests for cancer, kidney, liver, heart disease, hyperaldosteronism, and so much bloodwork my cat is now mostly shaved bald, the conclusion was that her electrolyte imbalance and severe anemia was the combination of a thyroid storm from the I-131 and hepatic lipidosis started by NOT EATING for several days while at Sage. My pet DID NOT do well there and as stated above when she was returned to me she was so severely dehydrated that she could no longer walk. While rare, this office should WARN pet parents that this is a potential outcome. I would likely have still gone through with the treatment due to the rarity, but I would have been able to see the symptoms and treat it $20,000 dollars ago instead of thinking my pet was going to die and having no idea why. They could have even mentioned this during the several times I called begging to know what could be wrong. Thank you for taking my money and costing me so much more in time and stress!"
