Reviews of Uptown 500
"We lived here for 2 years - Garage is not secure at all. Constantly felt like our safety was in jeopardy as doors were often propped open or broken and left completely open. No security cameras. Catalytic converters would often get stolen and management refused to approve our post in the app warning other tenants. - People would often park unregistered cars in the spot you pay $75 a month to rent. They'd leave their cars for days and the towing service would claim that management had to call them in order for them to tow. Management would refuse to call them and tell you it was your responsibility. We'd ask for a partial refund and would never get it. - No ability to regulate temperature - If you even looked at the wall the wrong way there would be marks. They use unfinished paint"
"Beautiful location! Great staff! Rosebud Restaurant is opening soon. The pool/grill area creates an outdoor space to mingle, while the many indoor open areas are full of amenities to enjoy."
"I lived here from June 2021 - July 2023. I decided to leave because the price is not worth what you get to live there. Rent at your own risk. Pros - The units are cute, most of the front office is pleasant, and the maintenance people are very nice and quick to address tickets. Cons - 1) The amenities are constantly dirty. I never got to use an amenity without having to first clean it myself. The game room looks like a frat party took place in it (stains on carpet, broken tables/light fixtures, cigarette burns in furniture). There is some red substance on a wall in a hallway that has been there since I moved in. Outdoor areas are also not well kept and I often found dog poop around and inside the building. 2) The garage door never works. It’s either broken altogether or the fobs don’t register so you have to physically get out of your car to go open it. 3) What everyone says about the HVAC system is accurate. Your unit will never be the temperature you actually want it to be. 4) The balconies are not perfectly level, so my sliding screen door kept falling off the rail and into the balcony below me. I stopped using it altogether after maintenance wasn’t able to fix it."
"This place is a overpriced joke. Yes, it may look nice but what you get for what you pay is a complete joke. I went to look at a unit a little over a month ago first off. Yes they may be nice but they are tiny and they want to charge you over three grand to rent Ridiculous. Secondly, the lovely management office said after our tour we would receive follow up videos and emails of new units being available. Clearly we haven’t received any follow up at all. Do not want new renters Clearly you don’t. Unfortunately, I won’t be renting from this overpriced facility and found elsewhere and I’m living happy. Stay away from this overpriced establishment. They want to be fancy but they aren’t. You can’t charge three grand for something in the suburbs and people want to live here last time I checked, we aren’t living in Chicago. We’re living in Wheeling."
"Similar to other reviews, Uptown 500 has the potential to be an amazing apartment complex. Pros: The units are stunning Great amenities Good location Staff is nice Maintenance is quick to remedy tickets and are always upbeat when you see them Frequent community events Most neighbors are nice Cons: Residents are not accountable Trash is left where it shouldn’t be (in hallways, in elevator rooms, in amenities) Amenities are not kept up People use the game room then leave their empty beer bottles, there are broken tables and busted lights in this space The bath in the pet spa is hardly ever clean, owners leave dirt and pet hair in the drain which causes a swampy smell. I have a small white shih tzu which requires me to lift the white board up to bathe her, every time I’ve used the spa it’s looked like the photos attached Things break often (garage, doors with fobs, elevators) Cannot control temperature in your unit Elevators on south side of building frequently smell of dog urine; they’ve had to replace the carpet because of it You’ll find a surprise pile of dog waste INSIDE of the building once a month Dog owners do not clean up after their pets Even though it is a smoke free community, people still smoke wherever they please The fire alarm went off 5 times in the year I lived here, not once was there an actual emergency. While this is annoying it's also dangerous, if there is ever a real emergency residents will likely be slow to vacate. My December lease renewal did increase $70 which isn’t terrible but if your lease is up in the summer months it’s likely much higher, I’ve spoken to several other residents and see that as a trend. I will say I don’t really get the parking complaints, it’s typical in Cook County to need to register your car and guests cars: I’ve lived in 3 apartments in Illinois and this is typical. Management sends out reminders about it all the time so anyone who gets towed is pretty much their own fault. The 8 parking passes a month does fall short though in my opinion. While the staff here are nice, they could definitely do a better job at enforcing their community rules and maintaining the property. I personally decided to move out because of these issues, for the price you pay, the property is not kept up to par."
