"I gave all my information to this company and had them give me a quote for my return. They asked me a few questions about me and my wife, and then put the numbers together. They said they could get me 3400 back and charged me nearly 700 to file. I was reluctant because of the high fee but really needed money to pay a few bills in the next week, and they told me they could get me at least 1600 on an advance loan, but it could be more. They told me they would let me know how much the next day. That next day I got a deposit in my account for 500 dollars, which wasnt nearly what I needed, and I didn't agree to move forward on the service until I know what the loan amount would be. I decided not to argue about it since they were getting me back about 700 more than I'd I would have filed myself. I waited a few days and started to log into the irsgo app to see the status of my return. But it kept saying my info was incorrect, so I decided to shuffle through the filing status to see if maybe it was different from what I said. I finally got it to log in as single, which annoyed me because I told them I was married and filing jointly. I asked about this and the preparer told me that since we weren't married I couldn't file that way. I reminded them that we were married as explained previously and she replied that it won't really make a difference if they change it. I again was frustrated but trusted that they were professionals and knew what they were talking about. I checked my status daily after the 21 days was up and the it's finally updated it after nearly 5 weeks saying that the refund was corrected and showed I'd only recieve 1400 back. I confronted the preparer and asked what the problem was and they replied that since my wife wasn't related to me I couldn't claim the tax credit, along with the fact that I filed single. I didn't tell them that I was filing single, or that my wife was a dependent. I specifically said I don't have any dependents before they sent it in. They deliberately put in false information to show me a bigger refund so I would agree to pay there hefty fee, and moved forward on the loan before I was able to review the amount and agree on it. I was taken advantage of and told them that they can't take the fee because they didn't even have My approval to move forward, and they lied about the amount I could qualify for. They told me they would call me back and resolve the issue. Instead they took there fee out of my refund, along with the loan amount that wasn't supposed to be due till may, and deposited about 300 in my account. I called to resolve the issue and they brushed me off saying if I have a problem I can report them to the irs, but they won't give me a refund or fix the mistake they made. I asked them to send me a copy of the paperwork they filed, and they sent me one with the amended information on it instead of the original to try to hide there mistake. This company is shady and overcharging. H&R BLOCK can do the same service for 75 bucks and they are held accountable for there mistakes. This place is just ripping people off or will potentially cause alot of people to get audited for the way they are cheating the IRS. don't take the risk of losing your money to them or potentially being charged penalties for Tax fraud. Go to a professional instead. I've been continuing to try to get them on the phone but they have ignored my calls for nearly a month now"
