Reviews of TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centre of Chicago, LLC
"This place has bad car sales man energy. You basically pay them to do their ‘job’ with no guarantee and they use people in pain to leverage a sale. So they just want you to buy something and gas light you to keep taking you money. Save your money, and seek alternatives for your treatment. They use the stalling technique that sales do. My first appointment was them collecting information for over two hours and half to then tell me to pay them to treat me with little guarantee as “each patient is sensitive” The approach is treatment is phases but they refuse to tell you what the phases are. Person said most people go to phase 2, but you have to do phase 1. They don’t tell you what phase 2 is. They don’t tell you what you are paying for, “ if we tell you then you will go seek treatment for yourself” So I imagine it’s jaw exercises, acupuncture, laser therapy or other holistic treatments. They even pressure you to pay. They gave me a bill and told me to call now my spouse, immediately. Because the one spot they had would fill up. Then suddenly when I said I would work on getting the down payment they could find an appointment for me that was not, the “only slot they had open” I know I have Tmj and the tests they ran are evidence that I have a problem but I don’t believe I need to pay 8K out of pocket to treat it because the ‘expert’ can help me be “pain” free."
"They only treat the wealthy! Was given a referral and called for an appointment. Was told I needed to pay a $90 scheduling fee and a $500 something else fee, that blurred when I heard $500. I stopped at that, was told they would bill my insurance and I would be reimbursed. Who has $590 to pay upfront to see a specialist? So if you are not wealthy either you suffer your pain and continue to go to the ER or you bankrupt yourself trying to get treatment. No thank you! I will not see a money hunger Dentist under any circumstances. Sad how money is the GOD and people don't matter with this practice."
"Went here years back for TMJ therapy. Very expensive for an oral appliance, X-rays and evaluation as well as for the TMJ therapy which ultimately made my pain worse. Couldn’t use the appliance either as that increased pain. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone for TMJ therapy. I finally found PT more helpful and I my current dentist not only more reasonable but, better assessed me for a nighttime guard. This place is a rip off. Can’t recommend to anyone. The most positive thing I can say is the staff is very nice but, it’s all about the $$$."
"I had a very bad experience here. There’s a $49 nonrefundable fee just to make the appointment. I thought this was weird, but didn’t really consider it a red flag. I regret that now. I was told the appointment would be 2 hours, but it ended up taking 2 and a half hours. It wasn’t until half way through the appointment that I was told the entire consultation would cost an additional $551, so $600 total. Just for the consultation which includes x-rays without running my insurance. By this point, I felt trapped since I was an hour into the appointment. They were not taking the proper COVID precautions. When I initially walked in, the lady at the desk was not wearing her mask, but did put it on when I walked in. That was understandable I feel since no one was around her. Then when we went upstairs to do x-rays, two ladies sitting at that desk were not wearing their masks, but again, put them on when we walked in. Some other lady was walking between the upstairs and downstairs with no mask at all. I saw her twice in the short amount of time I was in the reception area. Many comments were made by the doctor implying people are overreacting to COVID and like she’s not taking it seriously. Two people, one of which was the doctor, asked if I was okay with them taking their masks off. If this is what they do when patients are around, I can only imagine what happens when no one is around. Then I was told my treatment would cost almost $6,500. Again, I don’t think that includes insurance. I have other more important treatments I’m going through at the moment so as I sat there in the office crying from being overwhelmed and stressed as they tried to find “alternatives.” The alternative was explained in a way that made it seem like it wouldn’t really even be beneficial and would cost just over $600. No thank you. I left there scared of what they say my problems are and afraid I paid $600 to get COVID. I would not recommend this place at all and am calling my dentist’s office to let them know since they are the ones who referred me."
"Just be forewarned I was charged $221 for the initial visit, $423 for some fancy x-ray (which you are not charged for if you decide to get the device and I still owe them for) then they wanted over $4k for the actual device and half of that money up front! On top of it they wouldn't see how much was covered by my insurance until I gave them the deposit. So I of course had sticker shock and did not go through with it and felt like I was being hustled."
