"I joined the Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy over 4 years ago and it remains one of the best decisions I've ever made. You will get a great workout with every class of course, but you will also find yourself a part of an amazing kung fu community and training focused atmosphere. It won't take long at all to notice yourself getting stronger, more coordinated, and more confident through the training at this school. Whether this is your first experience with martial arts or not, you will gain so much from the Ving Tsun system taught under Sifu Vyvial. I highly recommend the Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy!"
"I would recommend Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School for anyone looking to improve their personal life. Moy Yat, Sifu, and Simo have encouraged and empowered me to be confident in achieving the maximum ability of my body. Kung Fu tests your body and mental strength pushing you to continually exceed what you think you can do. Sifu, Simo, and the older students work closely with you to constantly help you excel. I would recommend this school for anyone looking to push past their limits, it’s been a fantastic 6 months since I’ve joined. -Akemi-"
"I have been a member of the Women’s Program at MYVT off and on (due to relocation) since 2011. Honestly, I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write this review. I had never studied martial arts before joining MYVT. A friend of mine highly recommended that I participate in the introductory class. I could not have felt more welcomed. Simo is a patient and skilled instructor who is passionate about teaching and empowering women to be confident, assertive, and ultimately gain skills needed to defend their lives. She is thoughtful and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of each and every one of her students. She also accommodates for differences in learning styles. It is an honor to have her as my instructor. It is also special to remember that Ving Tsun is a martial art practice begun by women for women! Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu is the real deal. There are no bells and whistles. You get what you are willing to put in. If you bring forth persistence and the sincere desire to learn this art, you will be greatly rewarded. Sifu and Simo will be there to support and guide you 100%. As you progress thorough this program, you learn how to build strength, agility, and discipline. You will also begin to notice positive growth in other areas of your life!"
"I am grateful every single day that I found Ving Tsun Kung Fu, and most especially Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy. I began my training 8 months ago, through the free Women's Self Defense classes the Academy offers every year in January and February. I had been nervous about trying a martial art, but figured it would be a good way to see how it felt for my body without any commitment to train further if my body couldn't handle it. After my very first night in self defense, I knew I would definitely be making a commitment to train further, I felt empowered and amazing. I worked hard through that self defense program, and then began my training in the regular program. 8 months later, I couldn't be happier. I have made it through one of the hardest times of my life this year thanks to Kung Fu. When things were rough for me, Kung Fu was a constant- providing me a safe, calming and centering space where I could focus on strengthening my body, mind and soul. I have the opportunity to work with amazing instructors who take the time to work with me where I am at in my Kung Fu journey- helping me get past body limitations like my knees (I wear braces, but don't think I will be for long). I can feel myself becoming stronger physically & more centered in myself emotionally/spiritually in my training. I absolutely love this school and my Kung Fu family."
"I haven't participated in martial arts - or any formal fitness program - for many years before deciding to try out Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy's week trial. Coming in, I was extremely nervous - both because I wasn't in very good shape and because I was a woman (in the past I've found that some martial arts schools are not very interested in, nor welcoming to, female students). I needn't have worried. Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy has a very welcoming, family-style atmosphere. The instructors and advanced students are happy to work with beginners. I've never felt anything but welcome here. In addition to the friendly atmosphere, Sifu Vyvial has a great deal of experience and an engaging teaching style. The classes are varied, some focusing on fighting drills while others focus on conditioning. Sifa is wonderful at explaining the "whys" behind the "hows" of Ving Tsun training. I would recommend Moy Yat Academy to anyone interested in beginning to learn a martial art - or students of other schools who are interested in learning the Ving Tsun style."
