Reviews of Parkland Health Center
"My grandfather had a stroke and they refused to treat him for 4 days. He walked into the ER here and now he’ll never walk again, due the gross negligence and incompetence of the staff here. They want you to stay sick and stay checked in as long as possible so they can charge your insurance as much as possible. These people are greedy, heartless, murderers. If you value your life, go somewhere else"
"You're lucky if this place doesn't murder or wound you or your loved ones. They surpass rude and are hateful and angry for doing the job they chose for themselves.(ER) I beg you to read other comments and see how many of your neighbors were done. If anyone treated your spouse the way they treated mine outside the hospital it would call for aggression. Dont bother complaining the guy who does this job just says I'm sorry like a recording. If you're not helping people you're hurting people. It cost a person nothing to be kind to another."
"UPDATE: Dad is now being transferred to Christian Hospital 11133 Dunn Rd, St. Louis, MO 63136 I'm reaching out to ask for your prayers and support during this difficult time for my dad and our family. Three days ago, Dad was rushed to the ER in an ambulance after experiencing some serious health issues. He had to undergo a procedure called a thoracentesis to drain 8 ounces of fluid from his left lung, which was sent for cultures to test for bacteria and cancer. To add to the complications, his blood sugar levels were dangerously high at 610. Today, while I was at school, I received a call from my mom informing me that Dad told her to call an ambulance "NOW" and he was taken to the hospital again. Those who know my dad understand that he's not one to voluntarily go to the hospital unless something is really wrong. His condition has been deteriorating since he arrived at the ER this morning. The results from the lung cultures came back, and it's not what we were hoping for. His left lung is infected with drug-resistant staph, and he's also in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). As a result, he's being transferred to the ICU at Missouri Baptist St. Louis where he is currently waiting on a bed to open up in the ICU, where he'll need to undergo a procedure to insert a thoracostomy tube. Unfortunately, Parkland Hospital is limited in its capabilities, and they don't have the specialized pulmonology expertise he needs for this specific procedure. They can do chest tubes, but my dad needs something in the tube and they are not specialized in this area. I can't express how much your prayers and thoughts mean to us right now. Our family has been through so much in recent years, and the thought of losing our dad is unbearable. He's been my rock, the foundation of our family, and we're all praying for God's strength and mercy to see us through this challenging time. I will keep everyone updated on Dad's condition as we navigate through this together. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers. A heartfelt thank you to Parkland Hospital and all the incredible staff at BJC for their exceptional care of my daddy. Their dedication and compassion during this challenging time have not gone unnoticed. Despite the limitations of the hospital, the doctors and nurses have gone above and beyond to ensure that my dad receives the treatment he needs. Parkland often gets a bad reputation due to its limitations, but it's important to recognize that it's not the fault of the staff. They work tirelessly to provide the best care possible with the resources available to them. To the amazing nurses who tirelessly dedicate their hours to helping our community, you deserve all the recognition and rewards in the world. Thank you for your hospitality, kindness, and unwavering commitment to your patients."
"My 8 yr old granddaughter went to the ER tonight with extreme stomach pains and shaking cause she was scared to go. As she felt better she told me I want to come here next time! Thank you to whomever helped take care of my sweet little Elena!"
"As a RN I have great expectations as well as great understanding of what they are going through. Very few staff have met or exceeded my expectations over the 7 days my husband has been there. The PA(sorry I forgot her name) and night nurse Laura in the emergency department were great. The night supervisor Sarah, nurse/relief supervisor Diane, PCT David, travel nurse Troy, wound center nurse Dillon and OR nurse Marcia were excellent. A FEW of the floor nurses and PCT have been acceptable. Supervisors Kathy and one other have been good. However, most of the staff in the emergency and floor areas and doctors on the floor have been grossly below acceptable, rude, and bordering on incompetent in my opinion. Hospitalist Dr Clemmons has been marginally acceptable. I know it is hard to get good medical help but Parkland lived up to their horrible reputation this visit. My husband had to be admitted a month ago for 3 days for the same thing, which we have since attributed to an incompetent doctor, and had great doctors in Williams and Dani and every nurse was great so I know it is possible at Parkland but this visit has been shameful and dangerous for my husbands life. Laine I just read your review and hope you see this. While I definitely agree with your impression of Parkland it pains me to see you think that is how all medical professionals are. It is not I assure you. I have been an RN for over 30 years and until us consumers demand that professionals be professional and competent and force out the undesirable it will not improve. Wonderful staff get upset and leave, won't come to work at poor places or go the way of the poor members out of frustration and ease. Please find a good person to help you advocate and get good care."
