Reviews of The Autism Clinic at Hope
"My son attended Hope for over 3 years from 2020 (maybe late 2019) until 2023 when he started kindergarten. This review will be an honest review of our experience. My son has ASD and ADHD. He was primarily nonverbal when we started at Hope. We were so nervous about 1) deciding if ABA was a good fit and 2) deciding if we were to do ABA, which clinic to choose. We looked at several, visited 2 and chose Hope. Right from the beginning they emphasized what our child could do instead of where he was deficient. This was in stark contrast to the other ABA facility we visited which seemed to tell us how much he couldn't do (as if we didn't already know). He started out on pecs and by the end was talking in sentences, telling jokes, writing his name and being able to covey his feelings. He learned coping techniques for moments of frustration and they were there with us through potty training, which was a goal we had before entering kindergarten. Hope didn't try to make our son someone he wasn't or stop being himself. They didn't try to make him "normal" whatever that means anyway. They helped him by meeting him where he was and learning in a way that worked for him. That isn't to say they didn't help him be able to function in a normal setting that requires him to behave appropriately. They modified the world around him to accept all the unique things about him while still helping him develop his abilities to learn and cope in "the real world". During his time at Hope, there is a decent amount of tech staff changes, especially since covid, but that is to be expected. Many of the techs are using this to gain valuable experience in a career that is aimed at helping people like my son. It makes sense that they move on from time to time. All of them were thoroughly trained before being allowed to be with my son daily. And all of them were exceptionally kind, high energy positive people. Not only that but his BCBA in charge of the techs was never far away and constantly ensuring his therapy was progressing. However, he had his favorites, and 2 people in particular were with him from start to finish. Daniel C. And Ryan P. are 2 of the most caring, invested people we have ever dealt with. They were amazing with my son and he loved them. They were funny got to know every quirk about my son, when he was trying really hard, and also when he was being a little devious, lol. There were many that Greer really liked but these 2 were there from the start. There were times Greer didn't want to go, simply because he'd rather play at home all day. We never had any issues that were alarming at Hope. At Hope, they consistently provide data on the child's progress to you in person (not just papers sent home) and truly work with you on things you see at home, comparing what they see at the clinic, victories and challenges and continually update goals and plans for your child with your input. Every day, they give a brief update of how the day went and anything they noticed. Nothing is too small for them to work on, whether it be requesting something, opening lunch items, requesting a break when they feel overwhelmed, learning sounds, so so much more. The way they handle therapy is child first and through play for the most part depending on what each child is capable of doing. They make it fun. I can't say enough good things about how Hope has prepared my son for a successful kindergarten. I would recommend them to anyone. If you've gotten this far, good luck and don't hesitate to pick Hope."
"This place is what every parent needs. The staff came along side our family and gave us the support and encouragement we were desperately needing. We had daily and monthly update and the communication flowed constantly between team and parent. The staff were willing to help our other therapist as well as the school. Where we started and where we ended, due to a military move, we’re light years away from one another. Hope was able to breathe life, bring order and structure, and made a profound change in our family life and our sons! If you are wondering if Hope is the right clinic…..they are! We will miss the team as much."
"The saddest part of re-locating was my daughter no longer being able to attend HOPE Clinic. The entire team always treated us with utmost professionalism and was compassionate and warm toward my daughter. At the end of each day, her therapist made a point to provide a lot of details on how her day went and her progress with her programs/peer interaction. I enjoyed the one-on-one parent meetings with her lead to go over her treatment plan and discuss goals to ensure a comprehensive effort could be employed both at home and in ABA. Their expertise was overwhelmingly apparent and I always knew she was attending the best place to foster communication skills, social interactions, and independence. They were also critical in my daughter being toilet trained. The O’Fallon, IL clinic was especially wonderful with lots of indoor and outdoor playground equipment to facilitate gross motor skills, and a variety of treatment settings indoor."
"Overcharged us! They would give an estimate for one teacher but would hire outside teachers and pass the bill to us to pay. They would not share what they are teaching with the parents. End result, waste of money nothing to show for it. Over $6000 in almost 3 months."
