"Proactive is a perfect place to learn defense shooting. They have very good classes with excellent instructors. I started with the Elite membership immediately. I have been at Proactive for 5 months now, and I am very happy. The best part is I have improved in every aspect of my skills. From safety to learning how to set up my EDC and duty belt. Great people and expert experience instructors!"
"I’ve been shooting with Chris and the the Proactive Defense staff for over 12 years. I was looking at the holiday schedule and just realized I should post a review. My wife, two daughters, and son in law also learned to shoot a full size 1911 out there and further honed their skills. One thing is to pick up a firearm and shoot but the opportunity to draw from concealed and fire multiple shots takes it to a new level. I took my first three pistol classes there and over the years I’ve been lucky to also train with many highly recognized schools. Proactive Defense’s classes are first rate and helped cement many skills that I still use today. If you see me out there say hello."
"I have been going to Proactive Defense since they started. Chris has been wonderful! I have dealt with many instructors there and all have been great. I took some time off going to the range, however I went there a few months ago with my family. I love how the ranges are set up. You have several different ones. Because of them I am very confident in my skills. In the past I had wanted to do 3 gun competition and Chris was very nice and said I could work on that. Unfortunately life got too busy, so I have not been able to do that dream yet. I highly recommend this range."
"I scheduled and purchased a beginner pistol class without issue. When I called back to inquire about memberships, I was asked about my background, goals, and motivation for joining. I explained that I had recently purchased a new firearm that I wanted to become proficient with and learn tactical skills in order to eventually compete. I also explained that I was already very competent with firearms, needed practice drawing from a holster, and that my husband was deployed at the time. The response I got was “well that’s not going to work.” The person I spoke to over the phone told me that if I had someone to shoot with, I could get a membership, but I wouldn’t be permitted to get a membership because I would be going to the range by myself. I asked for clarification, thinking I definitely misheard, and he repeated that single women, unaccompanied women, are not allowed on the range. I told him I currently serve in the military, and he told me, verbatim, “it’s a man’s world.” We ended the conversation, my being grateful for his honesty because I thought he was an employee that knew something about this establishment that I didn’t. I went to the class and explained what I was told over the phone to the instructor, who insisted I tell Chris, who would “never stand for that.” Well, I told Chris. And little did I know, it was Chris I was speaking to on the phone as well. During this in-person conversation, Chris repeated the same things to me as he did on the phone, including “it’s a man’s world.” I completed the class, which was fantastic and the instructor was awesome, but I will never recommend Proactive Defense to anyone, nor will they ever get any more of my money. In this day and age, to have someone refuse to sell me a membership solely because I am a woman, is preposterous."
"This is the best kept secret range in DFW. It is hard to find, but it is well worth it. How you get there is to follow all the signs to Quail Creek Gun Range. This range is actually above Quail Creek. When you get into the parking lot, look to the left, you will see some small buildings. There is a large metal cattle gate with Proactive Defense Gun Range signs. Find a parking spot and walk up the gravel drive to the top of the hill. They are open to the public and have some great defensive training programs."
