"The first time I went my son was seen by the nurse practitioner, Sam. She was very friendly, offered a lot of great insights and information, and even made my son laugh. Without going into too much detail, I mentioned that we had chosen to care for our son in a certain way but she dismissed it and continued to do something I didn’t want her to do. I should have been clear from the beginning of the appointment, that’s my fault. However, when I addressed my concern and the way I’d prefer my son to be cared for again at the end of the appointment, she insisted that what she was did wasn’t against my wishes. Nothing bad happened, my son is fine, but my main point is that I did not feel heard. That is so important to me when advocating for my son’s care. At my second appointment I was seen by Dr. Sheikh and addressed my preference from the get go and he listened. He answered all of my questions and was very sweet with my baby. The reception staff and the nurses are all very kind and make me feel welcome. They always smile and talk to my baby which tells me they enjoy serving us and I appreciate that."
