Reviews of Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa - Keokuk Medical Clinic
"I have had a lot of bad experience at doctors, but this place takes the cake from the nursing staff telling me they didn’t need an education on my symptoms of my medicine. To them changing my medication six times while I’m waiting for an EEG for my seizures. On top of that call me a drug addict over and over again when all I have ever done is take with doctors prescribe me usually even less than what they prescribe me. This place is absolutely horrible. I have been off Suboxone for almost 4 months and it has been very hard but it was making my life horrible. and seizures, and instead of helping me, they want to put me back on it before I can even get an EEG done. And told me if I don’t go back on it that they can’t help me when it has been my problem the whole time. The front desk ladies are awesome but the nursing staff and doctors are the biggest joke that I have ever seen. And I have been a part of the opiate epidemic for 20 years. Even my pharmacist in the pharmacy that I go to even recommended that I go someplace else. My pharmacy had to just fill my omeprazole because after calling my doctor five days in a row, they still did not send in a refill. On top of that medication that helps me stay calm Librium they made me go five days without because they would not call in a prescription. And this is while I’m having seizures. They have changed my medication six times while I’m waiting for eeg when they could’ve just kept it to what was working. On top of that they say that if you don’t cancel an appointment before 48 hours you should be charged $70 when they canceled my appointment 10 hours before the appointment. Where is my money? This is the last place do you want to be when you’re trying to make your health better. I’m stuck in a horrible situation. I either have to find a new dr. Or continue to go back to a place that they could care less, in order to keep my seizure medication. And they want to say that the opiates they have been prescribing me are unhealthy, but they want to put me on bupropion. Which is 5 to 8 times stronger than the opiate that I’m on. Tell me how that makes any sense when bupropion is what ruin my life and has put me in this situation. They also asked me if I wanted a counselor and I thought that was a great idea and then I get there and it’s a substance abuse counselor. As far as I’m concerned, if I’m a substance abuser I would like to know what a Doctor’s is? After me sticking up for myself. They told me I should find a different doctor. So if you’re looking into finding a doctor that will help you and care about you this is not the place. Also while I was there I had a stress induced seizure and came to on the floor and in my car. They did nothing about it. Did not even help me. They also called me the next day after I had to go to a walk in clinic for a uti. An called me a liar saying that I didn’t have a seizure an how would I know if I did. The front desk laidy is the one that informed me I was on the ground. They won’t except responsibility for what has went on. An blame me for every situation like I’m seeking drugs. If I wanted to be on drugs, I would let them put me back on Suboxone. And if I stick up for myself, they ask me why I keep coming back there. Because I’m having seizures, most of them are due to the meds getting changed or cut off every time I turn around. The only thing I asked for was to not keep changing my meds until they figure out what’s going on with my seizures. Because my seizures are stressed induced. All the changing in meds is not helping.. they have caused more seizures then they have helped and deny any responsibility. I have followed all the rules. And yet somehow, I am to blame when I’m just doing what they have been telling me what to do. They know that there isn’t anything else I can do but try to find a different doctor in an area where there aren’t any. I keep having to tell myself that I am a person no matter if they treat me like one or not. But if you’re looking for a place that cares about their patients, this is not the place."
"I just started going here and I'm already quite happy at how well treated I was. I really felt like everyone was there to help me deal with my health issues and that I was in good hands."
"I tried to get an appointment for my boyfriend who has an infected cyst on his back and they said they couldn't because he was not established patient and that we would have to get all his medical records transferred to them before he could be seen by a physician, it is infected and needs to be seen!"
"I've only ever had good experiences, been going since I was a little kid! Wonderful staff on both sides of the clinic! Always gets the job done."
"Wonderful staff. Very good at what they do. Had 3 teeth pulled at one time. She was so good and fast I could not believe it when she said "we are done". It took like 10 min for her to pull all three. Just a wonderful place!!!!!!"
