Vito's Vault is a unique institution located at 5901 West Lawrence Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. This Prohibition-style dinner theater is set to open early next year, replacing the beloved Galvin's Public House. Guests will be transported back to the 1920s as they enjoy dinner and watch a musical revue in a speakeasy-themed setting.
To enter Vito's Vault, guests must share a password to access the main room through a giant vault door. Once inside, they will be served appetizers, drinks, and dinner by cast members in character before enjoying the show. The performance will feature a combination of 1920s songs by artists like Cole Porter and George Gershwin, along with comedic sketches reminiscent of Abbott and Costello.
Owner Mark Forrest Virkler, who previously worked at Tommy Gun's Garage, aims to create a one-of-a-kind interactive experience for guests. The show will include actors dressed as cops pretending to raid the audience during the Prohibition era setting, adding an element of fun and excitement.
Virkler has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for hiring performers and covering construction costs. He hopes to create a standout establishment that will become a beloved part of the community, following in the footsteps of the popular Galvin's Public House.
Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce executive director Bella Ventresca expressed nostalgia for Galvin's but looks forward to seeing how Vito's Vault will bring new life to the location. She believes that the institution will become an integral part of the community, offering a unique and entertaining experience for all who visit.
