Skipping to today, I had worked with Teatro Vista in 4 productions, Lorena & Wendy (current Artistic Directors) have created a wonderful and safe creative space. "The Lawndale Theater, on Roosevelt Road, Chicago, opened in 1927 with 2,200 seats and a cathedral-like appearance. It was a work of architect William P. Whitney. Silent films were shown there, in the first stage; plays were performed; and, after all, for a time, it was also a church. He is a legend among art fans in the city. It closed in 1963. Now it is a decaying beauty, according to the definition of Roger Ebert, a local writer, in an essay published in Chicago Magazine."
