Reviews of Ohio House Motel
"I was pleasantly surprised by this motel for a few reasons. The woman at the desk was so friendly, chatty & welcoming. The cleanliness of the room & how large the bed was. Free parking in downtown Chicago? Do not pass this place up just because of the word motel in it's name. The only negative was the sound of traffic, it is located on a busy street. So if you're a light sleeper, this may be an issue."
"It’s been awhile since I stayed here. We did a weekend girls trip. The location is great . I was surprised because of its vintage look outside. It’s great on the wallet and a hotel you should reserve if u haven’t yet . If you’re in Chicago for an event, shopping, site seeing , or business stay here, I stay in plenty of 300 $ and $ 400 rooms , …I’m pleased I found this gem."
"My kids and I just had a great 3 night stay here! The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location is amazing! Getting to transportation was easy and there are great views from the balcony. The staff were also friendly and helpful. We will be back hopefully in a year or two."
"I just stayed at the Ohio house motel and it was a great experience. It checked every box and I'll certainly return the next time I need a place to stay in Chicago. First off, can't beat the location. It's central to everything. If you can't walk where you want to get you can easily get on a train or bus which the motel is close to. Ed was running the place when I checked in and out and was a pleasure to work with. He got us set up w exactly what we needed and was very pleasant. Parking is great, you can drive in and drive out and don't have to deal with any confusing and overwhelming parking lots. Rooms are small but nice. Very clean and comfortable. Has everything you need without the frills. Price can't be beat for the location and room you get. High high value."
"This motel is a good value for the proximity to downtown area. Highlights were definitely the parking, which is all ground level and just off Ohio, the complimentary breakfast at the adjacent Cafe which beats a continental spread any day, as well as the excellent staff, who were attentive and friendly. The retro look of the front office may have you thinking you'll get a dingy room from a bygone era, but they are actually reasonably updated. Cleanliness was what you would expect. My bed was on the firmer side, which is more a matter of personal preference, and there was a nice assortment of pillows. The walk to Michigan Avenue is about 5 to 10 minutes. Plenty of access to restaurants, Target is next door, and grocery are walking distance. Less desirable is the road noise especially in my corner bank of rooms, some noise from the alleyway as well. You also share a landing with a pod of rooms, so late night guests are easy to hear coming and going. Sound machine or earplugs recommended. Also, the climate control is central and controlled by the front office, so you need to call if it is too hot or cold. This was not an issue for me as she turned it down right away (was blazing on my arrival), but I could see it being an problem if you end up next to guests who have a different temperature preference. You can open the window wide and they are barred for protection, but that lets in more noise. TVs, averall amenities are serviceable, and in line with the overall price. Shower water was hot, but older fixtures etc. Overall, the pros outweigh the compromises, and it is a good budget option if you need to stay in the area. Would stay again."
