Reviews of Clay County Hospital
"Quack Doctor not good with newborns. Amazing nurse who seemed to know more than the doctor. My fiancé and I took our 8 week old to the er because he was showing signs of a cold. His eating habits had changed along with the way he was sleeping and acting. The nurse we had, sadly don’t remember her name, was beyond amazing with our little man. She picked him up and swayed with him as he was crying to help calm him down. She told us we could try and get him to eat there and the doctor would be in shortly after doing him up. When the doctor came in (Dr. Thomas) he told me to stop feeding my son and put him on the bed. He then looked in his nose and wouldn’t hear my fiancé out as he was trying to explain everything to him. Dr. Thomas just cut him off and tried telling us it was food difficulties because he only listened to the fact his eating habits changed. He then told us to give our 2 month old water. When I mentioned babies under 6 months aren’t supposed to have water he blew it off and said half an ounce after he eats to clean the mucus. For those who don’t know, giving a newborn water can kill them. Their kidneys aren’t mature enough and can throw their tiny bodies off balance and cause seizures for starters. Also didn’t ask if he was born premature or full term. He was very rude and our pediatrician made a surprised and concerned face when telling him what was instructed towards us, advising us against it and diagnosed our little man with a common cold."
"My husband was in a rollover accident. Despite telling them how he felt, the dr was more concerned about the vehicle being drivable still and if he checked his speedometer during the accident. Barely checked him over, didn't offer to do any x rays or anything and sent him home with Tylenol and a big bill. If I could give this hospital 0 stars, I would."
"We came down for our friends wedding and my husband started to have really bad pain and we went here. We are from Arizona and they had my husband in and out. Ashley, Katie and Dr. Lambert did an amazing job at keeping my husband comfortable and they found a kidney stone the size of a dime stuck in his urethra. Since we are from Arizona they told us we could get the surgery in St. Louis and stay here for two weeks or we could get a immediate flight home since we have a kid. Dr. Lambert had us stay until he knew what exactly our plan was and wrote us a letter to help us change our flight and even put that it is a medical emergency and that we have 48 hours to get into surgery. This was literally the most amazing experience we have had at a hospital. Thank you to the amazing staff."
"Came down visiting from Arizona for a wedding, right before the wedding had extreme flank pain. Come to find out 3 kidney stones one is the size of a dime. Rushing home to get my surgery done. The whole process was amazing at this facility, amazing caring staff, very clean, and just great."
"Very uneducated ER staff on trouble shooting a power port. They need to know their jobs. Very rude unless you totally agree with them. However I have to say James my nurse was amazing, helpful and kind. Dr Brunner was also very kind and caring the 4 hours I was in the ER."
