Reviews of Lone Star College System Office
"Terrible instituition. I am a student veteran with a collections on my credit profile because they handled my documentation incorrectly. How tf do I owe money when it’s payed by the VA?????"
"Update: it was a long and stressful process just to get out if this school, if anything I would have been better off not attending any classes here. Lonestar is a cesspool, glad it's behind me. Incompetent staff, always close offices early, and waste of time unless you know how to do everything on your own. Their own stupidity gives me strength to attend classes in hopes that I myself will never be that brain dead. Even professors will acknowledge how bad the student service is."
"Use Rate my professor for your teachers and don't wait last minute to sign up for classes or get your financial aid in order. Financial aid moves very slow. The day before payment for classes were due they let me know I had won a scholarship after I had already paid for them. To get in contact with them about the refund - took over a week because they moved so slowly. On top of that, I needed to purchase tons of art supplies that their book store didn't offer and because they had waited so long, I wasn't able to file for a book advance form so I could use it on the 400$ of art supplies that I ended up needing. I only took 2 classes that semester and ended up using the rest of my scholarship on my friends for supplies that they needed for school because I couldn't use the rest of it. (That was my last semester - graduated Dec 2017 - ceremony won't be until May 2018) Not every advisor/counselor is on the same page about when graduation is at all. I know now when it is after waiting for them to post it on the website but they did a lot of dragging their feet and I kept being told different things. Because of their inability to get things together, I ended up at Lone Star an extra semester because I had to take a withdraw from a class after they changed my professor. They claim they sent out an e-mail of the professor change and I did not get it until the day of after the class had already taken place. The professor was horrible. I ended up getting just 70% of my money back on top of having a permanent withdraw on my record. *I still have a 3.933 GPA though and that did not effect my GPA but it pushed me back There are great teachers here and the Montgomery campus has a nice environment. Lots of trees and the classrooms have what you need. Art department is nice as well. Some of their programs are not set up to transfer, so be careful or you might get stuck with classes that can't. Overall it was a positive experience because I got my AA out of it and I had been given 2k$ in scholarships for my 5 semesters (excluding summer) I was there and that was without my FASFA ever being completed. I paid a lot out of pocket but better than 20k. Typically I was looking at 1200 a semester - about 800 or so for the classes and the rest was supplies. It depended though on what classes I was taking that semester. Obviously my last semester of 2 classes was not 1200."
"I am extremely pleased with the facilities (Montgomery and North Harris) that I have studied at. I have had no complaints about the teaching staff or the experiences I have had there. On top of creating an environment that fosters creativity and personal growth, they are always very efficient at their jobs. This brings me to the only problem I have had with this school, I can not get anyone to return my call or an email. I have been to the campus twice to speak with counselors and I have been accepted to the technical school, but I need help with my financial aid. I have been calling, leaving messages, emailing and pleading with someone to get back to me for two weeks. Not a single response. The only message I received back was automated. I understand they are very busy, but I have a full time job and two children and I cant always make it to campus to speak with a counselor face to face. I wish they would be more committed to at least acknowledging that I have gotten in contact with them."
"This campus has truly exceeded all my expectations of what a college experience should be like. I haven't meet a staff member that wasn't willing and eager to be of service to the students. I have received numerous scholarships, went to enchanted evenings and luncheons as a student speaker for Lone Star College. As long as you do your best, your hard work does NOT go unnoticed. Out of all my different college experiences LSC-Montgomery soars above the rest. This college does not aim for failure, but guide student's in paths for upward social mobility and success in life."
