Reviews of Looking Glass Playhouse
"Had a lovely experience again at the local Playhouse. Always impressed at the diversity of shows and local talent of all ages!"
"Looking Glass Playhouse, this adorable venue I've visited for four shows in the last two years, has a familiar feel, and not just because of the charming setting. Three out of the four plays left me feeling a bit underwhelmed, like the director was stuck in a creative rut. It's as if they were running out of original ideas on how to stage a show, leaving the productions feeling a bit predictable and, dare I say it, boring. What really piqued my curiosity is the casting. The leads often come across as mediocre, leaving me to wonder about the recasting choices. There have been supporting role actors who truly shine β they sound better, and their stage presence is more captivating than the leads. It's almost like there's an untapped well of talent waiting to take the spotlight. So, while Looking Glass Playhouse has its cozy charm, there's a question mark hanging over the direction choices and lead casting. Maybe a fresh approach to staging and a closer look at casting decisions could turn those middle-of-the-road experiences into something more memorable. Exploring other local groups might still be worth it for those seeking a bit more originality and standout performances."
"Cute little theater tucked in downtown Lebanon, IL. Great productions with local actors. Makes a great date night."
"Excellent community theater! Full season with musicals and plays. Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" opens Nov. 9-22 and Nov. 16-19."
"Attended for first time last night! Very nice theatre. Cast did a marvelous job presenting The Producers! You should go and see it! Iβm sure each show they put together is done well. Thank you all for effort it has taken to maintain the theater!"
