"I tried to set up an appointment for an MRI at Good Sheppared Hospital in Barrington, IL. After spending 35 minutes on the phone with the scheduler and her supervisor, I was informed that their system couldn't recognize my BCBS IL insurance. Despite this, they assured me that my appointment was scheduled. Over the next 2-3 weeks, I received four phone calls from the hospital asking me to confirm my insurance, ID, and personal information. Eventually, I contacted BCBS to verify my insurance, and we had a three-way call with the Imaging Good Sheppared Hospital operator. During the call, they informed both me and the BCBS representative that they do not accept BCBS IL Blue Choice Select. They requested a prepayment of $2,700, leading me to cancel my visit. The entire ordeal was a waste of my time and the BCBS representative's time. I recommend better training for hospital staff to accurately identify acceptable medical insurances, potentially saving money through a cost reduction program."
