Reviews of Homewood Suites by Hilton St. Louis - Galleria
"TLDR; Hotel staff is busy and don’t have time to help guests. No carts are available for moving your luggage.Hotel room smelled of weed and cigarette smoke. Issues with belonging and vehicles stolen at property, per the signs stating hotel is not responsible. Full rant: Hotel is not responsible if the belonging in your vehicle and or if your vehicle is stolen. This roughly translates to not if but when. This should have been my first sign to run! Manually carrying my fully weeks worth of luggage up to my 9th floor hotel room was exactly what I wanted to do after a 10 hour car drive with a toddler. There are not enough luggage carts in this hotel and the only one I saw had flat tires, but we didn’t get to use that anyways because other guest were being rude and keeping it. People who travel with luggage be wary! That is unless angry cardio is your thing. Oh, but wait, it gets better. We get to our room on the ninth floor and come to find out, the room seems to have quite the weed and cigarette habit. I’ve stayed in hotels that practically had roaches that were nicer. This hotel looks modern and nice on the outside, but it’s really an old run down motel 6 in disguise. The staff at the Front Desk seem to be tired and too rushed to care. This place gives Hilton a bad name and a refund does not feel like enough. The good news is that the Home2 suites in St. Louis is very nice and has none of these problems. I strongly suggest booking your stay there if you want a great place to stay."
"Hotel is next to the freeway….the air heat blower didn’t work, very dated and just felt dirty…. Shower is old and by the way the hallway on 6th floor looks like dogs lifted their legs to relieve themselves…. I know people enjoy pets but really how sanitary is it to stay in a hotel with dog urine on the walls and rooms that smell like a kennel? I’m a die hard fan of Hilton … this hotel needs major updates. I’m questioning the choice of staying in a hotel that offers to let pets stay…what about humans with allergies to animals? If you allow this why not have pet friendly rooms and the. Designated floors for humans with allergies? And a better cleaning of the rooms? We did ask to move to a quieter room and the fro t desk person was very nice offered us a phone # to another hotel at 10:45 PM!"
"I would love to have more great things to say about this Hilton, but really-- the only things that I can really say is that the location was pretty good for our need and the staff were mostly friendly. Thank goodness we had Hilton points to pay for the room, otherwise we would have been very angry if we had paid for the room (that weekend it would have been about $250/night). There were no bed linens for the pull out couch (but they did give us some). The fan in the bedroom had two speeds- off or cyclone. The suite itself was much smaller than you'd expect and was not comfortable. It took 4 minutes for the shower water to warm up. There was always a smell of marijuana in the elevators and sometimes outside, in the halls, or lobby. The breakfast was just so-so and not refilled timely-- however the French toast sticks had a really good flavor, just cold. The pool/spa was supposed to open at 9am, but by 9:15 someone had to go hunt for management to open it. My husband makes a point to stay at Hilton for all of his business travels and he said that this one was the worst he's been at. He will continue to stay at other Hiltons, just maybe not this one. Again, the staff were friendly and the location was close to what we needed, it just didn't rank for the other stuff."
"We stayed here one night while visiting antique shops and other stores in St Louis. This is a very nice modern hotel. It is located right across the street from the Galleria in St Louis. It is a fairly tall building. It seemed fairly busy when we were there but we didn't have to deal with too much noise or trouble. There is a small parking lot in front of the hotel. It was super cold when we were there so we pretty much just stayed in the room. It seemed like the people working there were attentive. The breakfast was decent and there was plenty of seating there. It was a little cold because it was below zero outside and when the doors opened, cold air came in but that's probably not an issue most of the time."
"Visited here on a Monday evening for a 1-night stay. I actually booked this day of and had zero issues doing so, so for that, thank you! I ended up with a Premium King room on the 8th floor facing the highway. I used the app after booking and was able to check in with the app, get my virtual key (work flawlessly), and get other updates through the app. That was a huge benefit and the first time I was able to use this. I am a Hilton Honors member as well. Also, getting to pick your room via the app (only 2 options though) was really neat. I arrived around 11pm for check-in and first ended up parking in their "overflow" lot that I was told is not an overflow but they use anyway? I was a little nervous parking here but the main parking lot is extremely small. But it does seem this is common so the overflow that is not owned by them is a safe place to park. To even get inside the lobby, you either have to be buzzed in or use your virtual key - which I did not know either of these things so thankfully the concierge was able to motion this to me as I stood at the door. He was friendly enough. I didn't get my complimentary waters/snack until I started walking towards the elevators (I had also asked if there was any water bottles and he said just some to purchase) and then he realized I might be an honors member. And that is where the virtual check-in is not a great process because he didn't realize I literally just checked in. Just a breakdown in that process I think. My room was amazing. It was huge and very clean. The view of the highway was nice. The alarm clock had not been turned back yet for Daylight Savings and you physically could not do it yourself, so I had to set the alarm for an hour early to match the "real" time. Not a huge issue but some people could be extremely confused by this or even late. When the A/C is not on, the highway noise is pretty dang loud in the room. Breakfast was great and the lady working it was so friendly! They had a decent selection as well. The muffin and eggs were probably my favorite and the biscuits for biscuits and gravy were just a tad overcooked or overworked. The check-out process was easy with the app and I didn't even have to visit the front desk which made it super convenient. Overall, I am really glad I ended up at this hotel super last minute. The room was clean and felt safe. The area seemed really nice. The complimentary breakfast is always going to be a huge bonus. And if I am ever in the area again, I will definitely try to come back here."
