Reviews of Houston Methodist (Jc Walter Jr Transplant Center)
"I made an appointment here trying to get a transplant. a lady named kathy called my dyalisis center to leave a message for me even though I just filled out all the paperwork with all my contact information. She stated I need to call to reschedule my appointment. I called and left message after message. Called and spoke to someone in customer service, she said she would email kathy and have her call never happened. I have been calling leaving messages but no response now going on over a month. I can see why the have such a low reveiw. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT GOING HERE NOW, MAYBE NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR A TRANSPLANT, My appointment is coming up not sure if I have one or not???????????????????? They are supposed to be a Christain based health care system?? I don't think Christains should treat people the way these people do. They give us all a bad name.Do not beleive them when they tell you is does not matter how old the donor is. my sister is 70 and in good health and they turned her down"
"The last couple of visits my loved one needed platelets the hospital didn’t have any- I asked if I could donate and was denied.. And I’m very displeased with the cleanliness of the main campus where my loved one was sent to get a Pet Scan The BMT clinic ought have the tools they need to provide the most sufficient care- not send patients to departments who slack when it comes to cleaning"
"I got my kidney transplant in July of this year and was very disappointed with the surgeon who did my transplant because 2 months later my incision had opened up and is draining a pus!! That was September 25 of this year and another one is October 25 of this year and did the same thing as the first oneIwish that I went to St Luke's Medical center for a kidney transplant.. Their team of doctors don't really communicate with each other They are too slow to figure out what they can do to eliminate bacterial infection to not coming back . Also their nurses at night on the 10 th floor wakes me up at 3:00am to get blood and blew up my vein I gave it a 1*"
"Outstanding service. They are awesome. All the doctors and nurses (coordinators). They are patient and work with you through this very difficult process. The only concern is due to the extreme cost your health insurance needs to be pretty good. There is a lot of testing, maybe a bit overkill but it's worth the trouble. The transplant team in the hospital was not quite perfect (I had a reaction to dilaudid that took too long to address) but other than that they did a fantastic job. The process is not convenient but never will be IMHO. If your expectations are reasonable these guys know what they are doing. I did a lot of research before choosing Methodist. They've been doing kidney transplants for decades and although surgery has not changed a bunch the meds and better matching/treatment has."
"This hospital might be listed as the top transplant center in Houston, however their customer service is HORRIBLE. You can never get anyone on the phones. Voicemail boxes are always full. No one ever calls you back. Just horrible! I am a recipient and brought my own donor. It took almost a year to get through the approval process, I am healthy except for my kidney disease. Social worker just forgot to inform me that they schedule test at random time, not checking with me for scheduling issues. In the time that it took me to get through the approval process, another recipient I met at the intro class went to another hospital, completed their program and already received her kidney transplant. My donor has completed testing, I have not hear anything except from my donor. Not one call from my social work in this entire process."
