MD Anderson would not so I needed to fins someone else and I happened upon Dr. Chandrakar and Oncology Consultants. She was excellent. Got me set up on my radiation treatments in Houston and it went great. Yes I lost my hair but that was to be expected. Overall a 5 Star review."

After further evaluation and additional testing she was able to give me a diagnosis that should have been given to me years ago. This was in addition to what I had originally gone to see her for. "In Feb this year (2023) my 66yr old husband starting complaining of pain on his right side. His PCP sent orders to see if he had Gallstones, and also sent for a deeper look. They found a mass on his Liver, during which the PCP sent us to a general surgeon for Gallstones, The surgeon saw the images and said, NO you have something else and it might be Cancer. The dreaded news no one wants to hear! Her nurse said, you need a cancer Dr, we had no clue who to call! She sent us a name to make an appoint We will never forget Dr Bynon (Transplant Surgeon in the medical Cntr) Why did they send us to Dr Bynon as he wasn't diagnosed much less know if he needed a transplant! We had no clue, but it was the best decision to see him! He sent us directly to Dr Chandrakar (with a true referral of how good the team is), she listened, and sent us quickly for labs, biopsies, it seemed an eternity... But they also found other things complicating his diagnosis, as the thought was he had Liver Cancer (+Hep C & Cirrhosis). Thank goodness for all the labs she ordered. After the Diagnosis being Lymphoma, We finally got 10 rounds of Radiation, 6 rounds of Chemo and here we are Early Dec with hopes he can be in full remission! There are some reviews of Dr C that are not so good, and I sympathize with all, I can just tell you how it was with us. We felt at times, that they were not moving fast enough to get him his treatment, but we HAD to go through the process to get him the proper diagnosis and a treatment plan that would work best for our case. Thank God for these awesome people that have decided their career to be to cure cancer (and save my husband, as he would not be here today if we would have stalled, and Dr C not do what she did) During our path I could literally see her thinking hard as she clicked her pen very fast, when we would get a setback... We love you Dr C!!"

"I would never ever recommend Dr. Chandrakar. In the few weeks she served as my father's oncologist, we were met with very slow communication, questionable treatment recommendations, and her disregard for our concerns over his decreasing mobility and physical pain. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma in September of this year after a visit to the ER for intense back pain. They found several spots on his spine and within many other organs in his body. It was devastating news, and we were referred by the ER physician to Chandrakar. The first visit was fine- she wanted a number of tests, scans, and a biopsy done as we were very much into the diagnostic phase. However, she did not address the intense pain he was feeling nor did she acknowledge the severity of his decreasing physical state. He was unable to even walk at this point. About a week later, he was in the ER again. They discovered one of the tumors had caused a fracture in his spine and that he was suffering from sepsis following a biopsy Chandrakar had ordered and which had taken place earlier in the week. He was admitted into the hospital where we tried many times to get into contact with Chandrakar. This began on a Friday, and we didn't hear anything back from her until Tuesday of the next week when she made an in-person appearance. We had been told by both the doctor in the ER and the hospital wing's doctor that his prognosis did not look good and that chemo would only exacerbate his suffering; it was clear the best route to take would be to focus on alleviating his symptoms. Chandrakar, however, went right into recommending chemo and insisted that it wouldn't have much of an effect on him at all. She also made comments about him seeking physical therapy and doing more tests. We found all of these things odd as it contrasted heavily with the pictures both the other doctors had painted, and we didn't understand how physical therapy was supposed to solve all his problems when he could hardly even eat by this point. She also said his cancer originated from the colon which is the most information she herself had given us by this point. We were given some time to think about it, and when we met with the hospital's case manager, we asked for a second opinion. That second oncologist agreed with the opinions of the ER and hospital doctors who said chemo was a bad idea. He also said he didn't understand why Chandrakar said the cancer originated in the colon because there were absolutely no cancerous spots in his colon. That was the end of our care with Dr. Chandrakar. My dad was sent to an assisted living facility for a week before being brought home to receive hospice care. He died on November 3rd, about two months after his diagnosis. Our family is still struggling to come to terms with this loss, especially with Thanksgiving approaching. There is an emptiness he left behind that we will never be able to fill again. I kept thinking to myself that in a worse scenario, Dr. Chandrakar might've allowed a patient to die in her care with as little urgency or attention that she paid to our situation, but I realized, with my dad's rapidly declining condition, that we are that worse scenario."
