"So far in my 4 months of being treated I have no problems with Waghela and the whole staff in that center has been very competent as far as I'm concerned... But I'm probably the only male being treated for breast cancer also...."
"Dr. Alex Liao, M.D., Ph.D. did not address my concerns, read my test results with no explanation, and failed to answer questions about my care. He just rushed through and ordered more tests with no detail on the nature or purpose of the test. I will never return to this office."
"I accompanied my mother in law to one of her appointments to express our concerns that the chemo treatments were doing more harm than good to her liver. I wanted to explore her options and get informed. Monica treated me very poorly, wouldn’t even look at me when I was asking questions. I’d ask a question and she’d not even look at me but look at my MIL and speak to her. We raised our concerns to her after several ER visits and an ER Dr informing us that because of the masses in her liver, the chemo is speeding up her death. Her liver couldn’t metabolize the chemo. Monica insisted that we continue the chemotherapy and when I informed her that my MIL didn’t know exactly where the cancer had spread to (the ER dr let us know after a CT scan) she said “we don’t typically tell patients where exactly it has spread to”. This stuck with me. The way she treated me, the way she ignored what I was trying to say to her and ask her. This was in November of 2022. My MIL passed away in February 2023 after she became extremely jaundiced and had been fighting stage 4 colon cancer for a year. Cancer is a long, hard, messy journey, one that will not always end in victory. Make sure you have a team that will listen to you and make sure you are 100 percent informed. But thank you for the “condolences” note you left on her final bill."
"My oncologist in Dallas referred me to Dr Waghela in Mansfield due to my change of residence however Dr Waghela declined to see me as her patient. It’s sad that after we cancer patients go through all the things with treatment, surgery and fighting for our lives that we still have to fight battles of worth not only in our minds and spirits but with medical providers who have taken a oath to help care for us. I would not recommend or suggest anyone see a Dr that doesn’t care about the care of patients. I have already gone through Chemo so my conclusion is that she won’t get the kickback from the pharmaceutical companies so why waist time on a patient like me"
"Held onto my grandmother's test results for 6 months and then did not talk about them at her appt. When she got home, she saw that her CEA score was high (a 9.) She had to call back to be told that she needs to go for a PET scan. All Dr. Waghela wanted to do at the appt was argue that my grandmother doesn't have diabetes...which she does. An oncologist is in charge of CANCER TESTING, not arguing with an 80 year old about a condition she's had for years that isn't even the Dr's area of specialty. That's like my dentist telling me I don't need my glasses when I go for a root canal."
