""I recently joined an organization that promotes the warrior mindset and supports veterans in conquering life's challenges. The focus on cultivating a warrior mindset is truly inspiring, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a positive community. I myself am a combat veteran with 12 years combined service, Active Duty Army, Army reserves and Texas National Guard. I have struggled in the past with adapting to life outside of the military. While starting entrepreneurship and realizing my purpose over and over again. Attending my first VEL meeting, I new right then, I was going to be apart of something huge. There are plenty of Veteran communities out there. All with great intent but lack the right mindset, the right path and quite frankly low expectations of our warriors. "As a 12-year Navy Veteran, I searched aimlessly for that sense of community and purpose again after leaving the service. This past year, after 10 years of searching, I was invited to a VEL Institute event. In Dec 2022, my husband and I (both Vets) attended their annual Legacy Awards Dinner. The energy was palpable, filled with like-minded people celebrating an organization they believe in. This was not some boring, scripted, obligatory event. Everyone in attendance was genuinely engaged and joy-filled. There was a buzz about the room and it was the real camaraderie that unites a group of people who are committed to something beyond themselves.
