"As far as therapy goes, the Somatic Experiencing technique that Ashlie utilizes to make you cognitively aware of your CNS (central nervous system) can, at first, seem jarring in the middle of sharing something / describing an event in her sessions. However, it is intentional and also deeply important in this therapy to get you in touch with how your body is physically feeling and physiologically dealing with whatever you're discussing (be it traumatic, in the past, joyful, anticipatory, etc). And then you begin to notice how your CNS is reacting in real life and real time, and - if you're a case like mine - can learn to better manage triggers and center reactive emotions (and their repercussions). The goal is a hefty one, but it's a productive and noble and mindful path en route. As a therapist, Ashlie has a warm demeanor with just enough sass-realness to keep up with you and also keep you open; needless to say, she is very easy to talk with. She listens with empathy and approaches with sensibility and pragmatism (which I greatly appreciate), in my experiences. I recommend both Ashlie Brown and this therapeutic technique."
