BCMW Head Start

BCMW Head Start, located at 510 Joplin Street in Benton, Illinois, is a school that focuses on the development of children in various areas. Children at BCMW Head Start will develop positive relationships with both children and adults, regulate their emotions and behavior, take care of personal needs, and practice basic health and safety rules. They will also improve their balance, coordination, eye-hand coordination, and fine motor skills. Additionally, they will learn numbers, shapes, patterns, and number concepts, as well as family and community characteristics and jobs.

Children at BCMW Head Start will also explore natural resources, living things, and tools, develop language skills, learn to read and write, engage in creative experiences, and demonstrate curiosity and a desire to learn. The institution uses iStartSmart mobile HATCH Tablets and Teaching Strategies GOLD to enhance learning and assessment.

BCMW Head Start also organizes Book Drives and parent/child activities to promote literacy, as well as a male involvement program called Heroes' United to provide positive male role models for the children. The institution's mission is to prepare low-income children and families for success in school and life by providing opportunities, experiences, resources, and advocacy. Serving Bond, Clinton, Marion, Washington, and Franklin Counties, BCMW Head Start aims to help individuals reach their full potential.
