Reviews of Austin McNeel Siegel LPC, AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist
"Austin has been amazing for our relationship. She's has been instrumental in helping my husband and I understand each other and grow closer in our relationship. Relationships are always a work in progress and Austin will be there with you every step of the way."
"Wouldn’t recommend her to anybody, especially men. Told her I was having some bedroom issues and she said it was all in my head. I told her that while I am sure mental health plays a big role in that, two doctors told me that I legitimately had a physical issue. She ignored it and kept saying I was in my head. I then told her the studies that my doctors did but she then doubled down and said “No you’re so in your head you’re doing mindfulness wrong. Read the book I suggested”. At the point I got annoyed and told her I’d rather end the appointment. She did an eye roll and ended the appointment. she still charged me the $130. P.S. I go to therapy with a different therapist to do mindfulness and did read part of the book but don’t appreciate my feelings/experience being belittled."
"I debated writing this review for more than a year, because I know the impact they can have on a business. But in more than twenty years of therapy, I have never had a session more damaging or detrimental than my second session with Austin. My husband and my first session was a standard introductory session. I detailed the abuse I had experienced previously, even sharing details I had never shared with a therapist before. Imagine my shock when at the start of our second session, it was clear Austin had no recollection of having met me before, despite the passage of less than two weeks. She had no notes, no memory of the personal details I had shared, and proceeded to tell me that the physical condition I was dealing with at the time, one of the most painful conditions you can experience, was no reason not to have sex more often than once a week, and that I "wasn't trying hard enough." Can you imagine telling an abuse survivor that their physical pain and sense of safety is less important than putting out more often? I ended up sobbing in humiliation. It was a session that very nearly did irreparable damage to our marriage. I'm just thankful we found another therapist with a stronger understanding of trauma. Edit: Glad to read in their response that Austin feels the treatment I received was "unconscionable." Disappointed to read the implication that what I experienced never happened. Happily, I was not alone in the session, and do not have to rely on Austin's memory to validate my own. I encourage anyone reading this to check the other reviews of this practice, and my own review history to see if I seem like someone likely to write a negative review for fun or without cause."
"I have been seeing Austin for about 5 years, on and off. She is such an authentic person and a great therapist. When I go in to see her, I feel seen, heard, and understood every time. She's honest, funny, engaging and always encourages me to be the best version of myself. After my marriage ended, Austin was instrumental in helping me to get back on my feet. Working with her assisted me in discovering so many things about myself which have changed my life for the better and helped me to live a more purposeful life. I honestly don't know what my life would look like without having spent time in therapy with Austin. I am so grateful, and will continue to see her as needed throughout my growth journey."
"Austin is stupendous! She has definitely been the right fit for me. I’ve had other therapist I didn’t like in the past. It happens. Austin has earned my trust. I like how she challenges my thinking. She clearly makes your well being a priority. Sometimes she says things I don’t like. But that’s therapy! I appreciate her for saying the hard things even when I don’t like it. That’s tough to do. I highly recommend."
