"Update: The owner reached out and was very friendly. He refunded the extra time the movers took due to inefficiency, and it was clear to me that our experience was not up to the company standards. And based on the other reviews I’d say that our experience was clearly an anomaly. So I’m editing this review to 4 stars so I don’t hurt their average rating, but I’ll leave my original review below for transparency. Our movers were very friendly, so I originally gave 3 stars, but I had to update it to 1 because we just discovered they put about a dozen heavy boxes in the first room downstairs that are clearly labeled upstairs closet and upstairs bathroom. They just gave up and started hiding boxes in here when we weren’t looking. They also didn’t put our couch back together. So they went over-budget AND we get to hire more movers to actually finish the job because my wife is pregnant and my back is bad so we’re not about to try and move heavy stuff without proper equipment. This was the least efficient moving experience I’ve ever had. It felt like two out of the three guys were brand new. I understand sometimes you just get new people on a job and they’re less efficient, but it was to the extent that their lack of experience resulted in them going over the ceiling end of the estimated budget. The quote was for 9-11 hours (move from Austin to Dallas) and they took 11.5 hours even with them saying they took 15 mins off. I’ve moved 6 times in the last 6 years and as I watched the truck being packed I was very confused why they were doing it the way they were. So it was no surprise they had to take things out and redo it at the end. I finally left as they were trying to configure the truck because I didn’t want to stand and watch, and then they arrived at the new house much later than expected so I’d imagine it took some time to get it right. The other contributor to exceeding the estimate was how slowly they were going by the end because they were visibly exhausted. In the moment we felt bad that they were so gassed, but as we reflected on the move we were so puzzled by their choice not to use dollies. By the end of the day, they were slowly carrying one box at a time and made some exasperated comments when items needed to go upstairs. I feel bad that it was tough on them but there’s equipment to make this stuff easier. The first time they tried to use the plastic wrap on a piece of furniture, the guy had to ask for help on how to use it, so it may have truly been his first day on the job. Again, they were nice guys and for that reason I almost didn’t even leave a review, but I do feel like it’s important to share my experience with the budget being exceeded due to inefficiency. One question I’d expect you might have is if we estimated our things incorrectly, but we were very meticulous about filling out the sheet correctly. My wife even updated the sheet two days before the move to the exact number of boxes we had."
