"We were scheduled to move last Saturday 2/24 between 8-9am. No one called or texted to give an ETA like agreed so I called the owner at 9:37AM. He said he didn’t know so he’d call the guys and get back to me. An hour later no response so I call again. He tells me the guys that were supposed to do my move were out till 4 AM the night previous (because they supposedly stay until the job is finished which is two lies wrapped into one as you’ll soon find out) so they had to have someone else do the move and they’d be a couple hours late. Two hours later at 12:30 I call again and he says it shouldn’t be long cuz they’re in Pflugerville. (45 minutes from Bastrop) Two and a half hours later (3:00) they finally show up. When they did get there I immediately noticed something off. They both had a sour attitude. One of them didn’t talk at all and the other one barely talked. one of those guys that makes you feel like a pain in his neck for having to talk to you. My wife said she heard them grunting and cussing under their breath on more than one occasion and the man in charge even said to me “do you have enough boxes? Is that it?” Rude! Later on the man in charge tells me that they were called in on their day off because someone quit that morning. (Different than the story the owner told me about the guys working too hard the night before) so we get to the new place and get mostly everything unloaded off the trailer and the man in charge gets out the paperwork for me to start signing (half an hour before they left!). First red flag besides signing paperwork saying they didn’t damage anything when they weren’t even done, was he was putting down four hours when it had only been three hours. I asked him if they were going to stay for the full 4 hour minimum that I had to pay for. He expressed immediate dissatisfaction like I was being unreasonable and shrugged his shoulders like he didn’t wanna do it and that there wasn’t much for them to do. He wanted to charge us for four hours but leave after three. He ended up taking off half an hour but I would rather have had them stay and finish! It was for that exact reason that I helped the entire time because it was booked for four hours and I would have rather them spend that time unpacking at the new place then packing at the old place. Instead I got to help the whole time AND have to do all the unpacking. The man who doesn’t talk (who doesn’t technically work for come and take it moving but was vouched for by the owner as someone they work with often) disassembled my book shelf and didn’t say anything to anyone about where he put the little shelf pegs that hold the shelves up so now I have a bookshelf with no shelves. I really wish they would have stayed long enough to tell us what they did with them. At least the other bookshelf is all right because he decided to only take the shelves out of one of them. The same man also lied to get out of having to put our bed back together. He asked me when it was just us two in the room if it would be alright if he leaned the bed and frame against the wall temporarily while they move everything in. I said ok because he said TEMPORARILY. I had previously indicated to him not to take apart the bed frame when I saw him start to take it apart because it’s hard to put back together (although, who knows if he comprehended what I told him to do because he never answered anything that I said) I later found out he told the man in charge right in front of my wife but when I wasn’t in the room that I had asked them to leave it where it was and to just let me take care of it. Yet another lie! Leave it up to the quiet guy to do something sneaky like that when he finally does talk! I never told him that! And turns out he did take it apart, and then, when he couldn’t figure out how to get it to go back together, he literally just taped the frame together with packing tape. You can say God bless and have a patriotic symbol for your business all you want but that doesn’t make your business worth anything when the service stinks and you and your employees lie."
"This is second time we have used come and take it, Matthew is always helping us find that right date…even when we change the date 3 or 4 times. James and Jordan were our movers both time drive 4 hours to our new home and they were been quick, efficient and awesome!! Thank you for help making this easier than we thought."
"We used this company to move on Dec 15/16. I was expecting a 36ft trailer and a 2-man crew. They came with a 40ft trailer and 3 men (sort of). They didn't charge extra for the larger trailer. They were a little bit late but they called to let us know. As they started loading, Scott told me he wasn't 100% due to fighting cancer. I felt bad for him, but he worked hard.. really hard! At first I noticed the other 2 men were taking lots of breaks and one was kind of limping. He told me he had a bad foot. I became concerned because instead of $180/hr for labor, I was now paying $270/hr for the 3 men. Three hrs into the loading, I called the general manager, Matthew and voiced my concerns. After that, the crew seemed to pick up the pace. It was a big move, and our stuff barely fit into the trailer. Scott did a great job of stacking everything. The crew really worked hard until after dark and even when it started raining. The next day was unloading. These guys were upbeat and working hard all afternoon. We noticed a couple of damaged items and Scott gave us a modest discount for that. The disappointment came as we unpacked. More of our furniture and belongings have scratches or are broken. At first, I just chalked it up to the sheer volume of the move and maybe the pressure I had put on them to work faster. Now, almost a month later, I'm feeling more than disappointed. A beautiful oval mirror that I have, has a big chip out of it. And yesterday, when I was looking to move my plants in, I couldn't find my dolly. That was the last straw. Sorry, Matthew, Scott and the boys, I'm giving you a less than satisfied rating. Moving is really expensive, but it shouldn't cost you your cherished belongings."
"I highly recommend this company. We recently moved after living in our previous house for 30 years. Matt was so easy to work with and accommodating with our schedule for moving out of one house and moving into our new house several days later. Ryan and crew were fast and so hard working. We had a lot of fragile pieces of pottery as well several pieces of original art. They were so careful that everything made it through the move with nothing broken. I hope to never move again, but if I did, I would not use anyone else. Thank you so much for all your hard work."
"I've used Come and Take It Moving multiple times now. The owner, Matt, is always very responsive and easy to work with. He and his crews have moved my family back and forth across the state. Prices are very reasonable and they only charge for the work they do. The crews are very professional, friendly, punctual, and have a great sense of humor. Scott and Gaspar were my last crew and they did an awesome job. They were faster than I planned and very efficient. Scott did an amazing job loading everything into the trailer. It was a work of moving art."
