Dr. Karla Austin

"If your having 2nd thoughts abt seeing Dr Austin from those few negative reviews you’re missing out. Yes Dr Austin believes in Christ her website and bios all say as much. As for politics it was not mentioned once in any of my sessions. Sometimes patient and therapist don't match. I had a counselor before Dr Austin and our fit was off. With Dr Austin it was great from session one. Dr. Austin helped me when I was getting over 3rd stage breast cancer, a divorce & the death of my 2nd mom. The 2nd time years later with my father’s fight with cancer and his death. Not only was I sick again but very depressed. Dr Austin went way out of her way to help me. Dr Austin saved my life.. She is honest, knowledgeable has empathy and understanding. Was always there if I needed her. So If you’re thinking about seeing her I highly recommend it. Thanks for everything. I have been living and still have an amazing life once again."

"Had a few appointments with her wanting to talk about depression and anxiety issues. She ended up questioning me about my political beliefs and arguing with me about them and comparing me to her son who is a similar age and doing much better than me in life. Not helpful at all."

"I went to this so called professional years ago, she is not professional. Had I know. This was a faith based therapy session, I would of quickly cancelled! Never again will I ever go to this individual. A complaint should be made against her!!"

"I went for an ADHD assessment but she refused to do it. Despite showing symptoms since I was a child, she didn't want to assess me and instead pushed for multiple sessions and therapy. I stayed for the therapy session because that was something else I wanted to look into. During our session, she brought up how our we should go for a more "positive" mindset in life and said something along the lines of "for example, there were happy slaves!" That comment is so disgusting. There were no "happy slaves". Like you have to completely ignorant to actually believe that there we "happy" enslaved people. It was such an insensitive comment and it made me instantly uncomfortable with her. As if that was not bad enough, later in her session she asked if I was religious. I told her I was not sure, but I was raised surrounded by religion, and she just started preaching about Jesus. She said my problems would get better and I could learn to "love myself" because Jesus does. Like ma'am, I have DEPRESSION. Jesus isn't going to cure it. I just waited for that agonizing session to end and decided to never go back again. She is completely unprofessional and delusional. Do not recommend for any of her services."
