"Absolutely horrible stay the rooms were filthy. The bed and pillows were rock hard. The A/C was broken and didint blow cold. The cieling bathroom vents were falling out of the cieling. The hair dryer was falling apart and had the fan blades exposed. The bathtub shower to tub valve was broken. The toilet wouldn't flush. And the list goes on and on. Then when my wife presented the issue to the owner she was made to feel stupid as if we didint know how to use a air conditioner. Well I'm a licensed comercial and residential building contractor so yes I'm sorry we absolutely know that the issues we presented are indeed factual. Do yourself a favor and save the 115 bucks and stay elsewhere!"
"Beware of PET fee... We stayed here sometime in July 2023 to visit StarvedRock state park and I booked the room through HotWire, and it said pets are allowed and nothing was mentioned about the extra charge for pets on Hotwire. So, I thought everything was included in the price for $65 + applicable fee + taxes which came up to $78. So, we went in and checked in and found out that we have to pay $25 pet fee. I was upset about it but ended up paying it. The room was not clean and I saw lots of BIG STAINS on the carpet. There was lot of dirt around the bed frame. One of the windows did not have a screen (NO SCREEN) and we didn't know that until next day morning because by the time we checked in, it was dark and luckily we kept the window open only couple of inches that night to let in some fresh air. But had we opened the window more than few inches that night, our cat could have jumped out of the room which was on the 2nd floor and he could have been seriously injured or even died. They could've at least informed us about the screen situation on the windows but they did not. When I turned on the AC that night, I could feel the dust blowing in on my face and it was not pleasant and was uneasy to breathe. So, I looked at the air filter and it was covered in a THICK PILE OF DUST. I cleaned it up and put it back in and it was much better. Seriously, how hard is it for them to clean the filters? They are playing with people's HEALTH here by not maintaining the rooms and on top of that charging ridiculous amounts. The continental free Breakfast was nice though and the location is close enough to StarvedRock but the room was HORRIBLE. I will try to post some pictures of the room which I've taken that night."
"We were appalled to find poop on the floor in our room. I can't imagine how that was missed during cleaning unless it wasn't cleaned at all. When we confronted the front desk they did not offer us a full refund. They offered us $25 off of our $100 stay FOR A HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. We have yet to see the $25 either. Absolutely disgusted and will be reporting this. REFUND US. We have pictures and conveniently enough this site won't let us upload."
"Mixed bag here. Biggest issue is the broken security door on the back side. Room was fine, breakfast was fine, family/staff living on 2nd floor above front desk with very strong curry smell permeating the hallway."
"I arrived at my room which I had already paid for and found that the lock was taped on the door with 4 pieces of scotch tape. When I asked for a different room I was told that the lock worked fine. When I went inside I found some foreign white substance all over the floor. The lamp shade was broken off with only a bulb hanging there. There were also a hairs in the sink. The curtains were broken and were hanging. The room was filthy and when I asked for a different room I was told that the lock would work just fine. I'm assuming because it was late there were no other rooms left I was not offered a refund I was not offered a different room. The manager has just called me to let me know that I will not be receiving a refund, because I did not ask for a different room."
