Reviews of Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts
"I've just visited the school for their tour and it was a very fun time. The faculty and chefs were all very friendly and professional and made you feel comfortable even with a crowd I also talked to some of the students and they said that they love their classes and that the school helped them find quality jobs and find housing too."
"Did anyone look at these ridiculous prices for this privately operated culinary school! Absurd! My family member attended El Centro (Dallas) through what was then the Dallas County Community College system, a property tax payer funded community college, now Dallas College that is public. We were glad to finally get some return on our property tax having spent all of our children's K-12 education using private schools. El Centro is and was well regarded and the family member is very happy with their curriculum and education. Comparing the description of Auguste Escoffier School to your local tax payer based community college, you'll find very similar learning experience, and pursuant to reviews, perhaps significantly better as a public institution, the college is accountable to the county and the students (consider the pictures of the low-end rent strip shopping center for AE compared to El Centro Downtown Dallas which includes a college campus atmosphere, just as an example). AE has a slick website, but it's a lot to pay for a culinary school with a French name in a bad Austin neighborhood. My suggestion, shop around if you are in Texas and looking for Culinary school."
"If I could give 0 stars I would. This school is horribly unprofessional and borderline a scam. I reached out to apply and they included enrollment papers in the application form. The were pushy about filling out forms quickly with threats that I would not look like a serious candidate if I didn’t have things done by the end of the day. When I emailed to ask them to cancel my enrollment (which I filled out by mistake) no one responded and instead I was bombarded by 5 calls from different numbers at the school. I sent a follow up email to confirm cancelled enrollment, still with no response. A few weeks later I received a call from a third-party company asking if I needed housing for my enrollment (which mind you I emailed twice to confirm was cancelled). I am now still receiving advertisements to my phone and email as well as to the numbers of family members that I listed as emergency contacts. I would be very careful if and how you engage with this institution."
"Let me first say that the teachers did a great job, but everything else was sadly awful. I had just moved to a new location for work and wasn’t sure if I should take a break or withdraw. I was told from the counselor to just take a break for now and then to withdraw later if necessary. About a month later I decided to totally withdraw because my work schedule was crazy. I was then told by another counselor that I would be charged for the entire time, INCLUDING the month I was on a break. I told them it was inappropriate to do that and that the other counselor never relayed that information. They said to give them 45 days to have a full breakdown of the total charged. I was never given the breakdown...rather a bill in the mail two months later with an extra $1,200 (the total for one extra month that I was on a break) and was told to pay it immediately. I keep calling to get this remedied but their staff keeps giving me the run around and says that someone else, not them, is responsible for helping me with this. I still cannot get this situation figured out. I have four other degrees and have never ran into an issue like this. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. IT IS A SCAM. I also had many other issues with their admin folks and filing for my GI bill benefits, but that is a whole different situation completely. They have been so unprofessional. I cannot believe the lack of integrity from this organization."
