"I was nervous about the jump-right-in method for my sensory-sensitive 7 year old, but Ms. Cathy’s swim course was just what he needed! He knew he was safe with her and he loved it from day 1. He came up spluttering a few times, but was always ready to go again. On Monday, he was nervous about putting his face in the water, and by Friday, he was diving through hoops, racing classmates across the pool, and swimming to the bottom of the pool to grab rings (and his medal that he dropped on awards day!). Not only did he learn to swim, but his confidence just soared with every little interaction with Ms. Cathy. Highly highly recommend!"
"We brought our daughter here based on a recommendation by a friend. The first day was scary for her and us! BUT by the second day, she was able to swim by herself. By the end of the sessions, she was swimming, jumping into the pool, diving for rings all on her own. She didn’t want to stop lessons. Her confidence was booming and we felt comfort in knowing that if there was accident and she was in the pool on her own, she could make it safely to the stairs. We came back for a refresher the following summer. When we had our second, it was a no brainer that he was coming to see Ms. Cathy. It is a 1 hour round trip drive but worth every minute. We are finishing up our first week and his confidence is incredible. He asks all day when he gets to go swim with Ms. Cathy. He proudly announces to everyone he runs into that he can swim by himself! Ms. Cathy has teaching kids and reading kids/parents down to a science. Her methods are very different than the swim schools’ out there but she is effective and has kids swimming within 1 week. Brace yourself for the first day, it’s tough but if you want peace of mind knowing that your child could get themselves safely out of a pool, this is the way to go. Every child in our class from babies to six year olds are swimming and confidently able to get out of the pool on their own."
"We had such a great week with Ms. Cathy. I had read some of the negative reviews and got nervous and I'm glad I didn't let them scare me away from one of the most valuable skills my kid can have living near all this water. I was shocked by how much my three-year-old learned in one week. It truly is up to us as parents to set a tone. After the first few times in the water my daughter was begging to come back every single day for swim class. By the last day she was able to jump in the pool down to the bottom and not panic. Come up for a breath. And then swim to the stairs. She's not going to be swimming across the English channel but I no longer feel like I need to be constantly afraid that she's going to drown. Not only does she feel confident in the water, I feel confident with her in the water and that is a wonderful gift. You know yourself parents if you can't handle your kid not being babied then it is not the place for you and that's A-Ok. We also went the to other swim schools for months. Yes they are nice and relaxing... My kid didn't learn anything. We went to Miss Cathy for one week and my girl is a swimmer and I am so unbelievably proud of her and every other kid in that class. If you want your kid to know what to do in water in multiple different situations and you are able to allow them the opportunity to learn that this is the best investment you could make. Thank you so much Ms. Cathy. I'm sure I'll be asked a million times this week when we get to go see you again. You made such a positive impression on my kiddo."
"My children are 12, 10 and 1. Ms Cathy taught my oldest two to swim at ages 3 and 1. I remember it being a hard week. I was a new mom to two little ones and tried my best to always respect their little feelings and words and they were for sure not happy to be at Ms. Cathys and told me so loudly! They cried the whole week. I remember being so anxious and wondering if it was worth it, but let me tell you that it was. We left there and have been happily swimming safely for the last 9 years. They have been strong confident swimming since that week and it did not “traumatize” them or how they think about water in any way and did not damage their bond to me as their safe person. Fast forward to this last week when I got to take our bonus baby to ms. Cathy for her intensive program. He is 22 months and he did amazing. He cried the second day when all the kids were feeding off of each other but that’s it. I feel so relieved to have ripped the bandaid off so to speak. We did two lessons at Elmer and he didn’t like them. He was bored, he wanted to swim! It would’ve taken us two years of Elmer to get where Ms Cathy for us in a week. As a parent I will always worry about my children and water safety when I am not there, but now I can feel confident when I am there that my toddler isn’t going to trip and take on water right in front of me. He will fall, hold his breath and get back up. If there’s a pool step he will fall and swim back to it and climb out himself! For me Ms. Cathys swim program is like putting an infant in a car seat. Do they like it at first? No! Is it comfortable for them? No. Do they cry? Mine sure did! Is that upsetting? Sure was for me. Is it necessary for their safety and long term car habits to get used to it? Absolutely! Ms. Cathys program Is the same. Now I can see what my child is capable Of and adjust the learning to my parenting style to continue to work with him at home and keep him Safe! I highly recommend all parents complete this program. Don’t give up the first couple of days or you will never get to see the fruit of the hard work!"
"My son was terrified of water. He is almost 10 years old, but was so afraid to get his eyes and face wet in pools. I took him to Miss Cathy and she helped transform him into a child with water anxiety, to a child who loves to swim. I was so impressed with the teaching style that Cathy uses; she doesn’t mess around and waste time. Thank you Cathy for helping my son learn how to be safe in water and love it too! You are the best!"
