Reviews of Chamberlain University College of Nursing - Houston
"Scammers & they are making you take more classes then what you need so they can get extra money and they will not allow for you to transfer your credits if you decide to go to another school."
"Expensive but you have to try hard to fail once you're in. They give you so many resources to pass. Speaking of passing, there are cheaper community college options but check the nclex pass rate. HCC just lost their accreditation because they weren't preparing students. Chamberlain has good pass rates!! You get what you pay for."
"By no means are they there to help you financially. The program is extremely appealing to individuals who work, only to realize that you can’t afford it. Financial aid payment plans are unreasonable, especially with the cost of living in the Houston area. After multiple contacts with financial aid (who did nothing btw), I decided to withdraw. I was passing all of my classes at the time of withdrawing and will be going elsewhere. I have paid over half of what my previous bachelors cost, and that’s included the fact that I was living in on housing campus during my first undergraduate experience. They told me that I qualified for these scholarships due to being a new student, that I never received. They also say that they have an institutional loan, which I was never given the information for. I have learned my lesson and highly advise against this school, unless you come from a wealthy background. Dreams are shattered and I wasted much of my time when I could’ve just went with something more affordable and have taken a break from work to earn my degree. Chamberlain is highway robbery! Be aware!"
"Got some info about the school. I wanted to love it. Then when the lady told me it’s nearly $100,000 for the BSN program I nearly fell out. Lone Star or any other community college is about $7k . This is robbery, and ridiculous not to mention the amount of negative reviews to have the audacity to charge that much."
"There are some really great teachers, however the administration is awful. They will quote you a price but the actual amount you end up paying will be quite a bit more. If you are a part of their medical plan then good luck getting any actual medical coverage. They continually forgot to update my plan and once they completely took my money and messed up sending my information over so I ended up have to pay out of pocket for a medical emergency. The school has NO bereavement policy. I was my grandpas caregiver and I messaged my professor the night that my grandpas condition worsened and he was about to pass asking if I could take a quiz online so I could stay with him while he passed. I was told I had to come in to take the exam or I would get a zero and there would be no makeup. My grandpa passed and they made me come in 2 hours after to take the exam. My friends brother passed and they would not allow her to take her exam early to attend her brothers wake so luckily she was able to reschedule the wake or she would have gotten a 0. They also tried to make me take an elective credit despite me not needing one and me telling them that. They tried to make it a nursing credit too which was an additional 100-200 per credit hour. When I called to ask if I could contact the bursars office to understand why I was being made to take an additional course that wasn’t part of my original curriculum they said it was not allowed. I additionally was almost failed out of the program early on because I got in a car accident (my car was totaled) and they would not allow me to take a makeup exam."
