"This office will try to collect credit card payments in excess of the customary copayment stated on the insurance cards under 'specialist. They will give the run around that they cannot get through on the line to your insurance company to verify coverage and repeatedly tell you the consult that day is roughly 150.00. In addition they will recommend a patient be assessed for specialized testing which they say runs from 1200-2000 dollars. Oscar insurance verified in under 10 minutes over the phone that the co-pay is 60.00. I was then told that they would charge 60.00 for times for a single consult to cover the testing they will have to perform on the day of the assessment. What was most concerning is while I walked into the bathroom the electric company came in that day friday 03/28/2022 demanding payment or they were disconnecting service that day. My daughter felt the need to tell me what she over heard as they had requested payment from us without verifying what would actually be covered. I gave them the credit card information. I decided to read the office reviews and found a Google review where another parent was charged a credit card fee of 1000.00 without their authorization. I advised the practice personnel that it is not customary for a practice to have patients pay forward without first confirming coverage. I mentioned the Google review and was told it was not a valid review. My daughter asked to withdraw her from any ADHD assessments/therapy because she felt the whole experience to be incredibly awkward. I did receive a bill from the insurance who was billed 240.00 instead of the 150.00 I was told was going to be charged on my card for our initial consult."
