"Park has baseball diamonds & hike/mtn bike trails. I was here for the Mtn bike trails. Although the Quad Cities are is blessed with many off road Mtn bike trail systems, Dorrance Park is up toward the top of my choices if I'm looking for a solid flow ride. Ther are green, blue & black trails. I typically go here for the blue/greens. They are fast & flow well. A few well placed bridges & short drops adds fun. The Black's are there, I'll add the black loop for extra mileage, however it does not flow as well & the man-made features to test your skill & balance seem a bit off. If I'm going to look for a challenging black run, I'd likely go across the river to Sunderbruch or Scott Co Park. If you try Dorrance & like it, check out Illiniwek for a bit more climb, but still has a nice flow ride. B Cool,"
"Great place to watch grandkids play soccer, baseball and get good snacks at the concession stand. Clean playground!"
"Nice, smaller (81 acre), Rock Island County forest preserve park. There are three, large, regulation-type baseball fields, and a smaller t-ball field (located up a hill by itself). There is one small, roofed Pavillion, overlooking a ball diamond, that has a picnic table and a cooking grill. There are numerous shared-use hiking / off road bicycle trails through the forest. The County website says there are restrooms and a playground (but we have no personal experience with them). There are two large parking lots, but it is also easily accessed from downtown Port Byron if you are riding along the river bike trail. Downtown has plenty of family-friendly bar and grill options (we usually go to Duey's or Jimmie Lee's for a quick bite, but I've heard that Ram's also has good food). There is a Dollar General store a short distance away along the main highway if you need picnic supplies."
"Another QC FORC gem. The singletrack trails here are great for what they are working with. The proximity to Illiniwek makes it easy to mountain bike both spots. The park has a little league diamond, bathrooms, playground and small shelter. Very safe and close to town."
"I'm reviewing Dorrance Park explicitly for its mountain biking trails, maintained by QC FORC. There are three main MB trails: Oakley Dokely (beginner), Loam Ranger (intermediate), and Uncle Rukus (expert). I am a beginner and have completed the beginner and intermediate trails, but abandoned the expert trail about half way through when I discovered it was a bit too much for my current skill level. At any rate, the trails are flowy and very nice to ride with plenty of features and variations in elevation (but nothing too extreme). The beginner and intermediate full loop is a LOT of fun and takes less than 20 minutes at a fairly slow speed. Even better, Dorrance Park is right off of the main river trail that goes all the way to the Quad Cities (which is where I ride from if I don't drive). And Illiniwek is less than a half hour ride from Dorrance as well."
