"I have proudly sent 8th graders to Memorial from its opening until I retired in 2006. These 8th graders first came from Escobar and then from Gus Garcia. Some actually went on to become members of the Memorial faculty. What a great compliment to your alma mater to return as a teacher ! Memorial graduates have gone on to enrich the fabric of San Antonio. I could not be prouder ! I must confess that when I learned the name of the "new" high school, I thought the name was weird. Needless to say, my opinion has drastically changed. I have come to cherish the deep meaning and significance behind the name. Go Minutemen! PS I must confess to the sin of being a Red Raider at heart. So in the Salsa Bowl, it's Go Minutemen Go !"
