"It is very nerve-racking to know that my nephew attends this school and has been bothered for months by the same student. This young man has followed him in the hallways at school and even got off a stop early to taunt him and even put his hands on him. My nephew is taught to walk away and notify somebody at the school and if that doesn't work notify his mother, daddy, grandmother etc. When all else fails and your put in a position where you have to defend yourself, do it. It has gotten to that point and my nephew doesn't like altercation at all he never has. But this school knows the student there and several other or problem kids and do nothing about it. Meanwhile Im working worried about the safety of my nephew because now he being threatened to get jumped by the same student and another student that has gotten involved with and issue that the student mother said was squashed and done. But today I get a text saying he's being told he's going to get jumped. I don't want him at school where he should be learning and not worried about having to defend himself. This makes me very angry to know that this school has done nothing and heck even speaking with this student parent that didn't help cause the first day she told her son to fight my nephew again when he see him and this time he better beat my nephew up. Like that shouldn't be what you teach your kid at all. But anyway this is about the school and their lack thereof not being able to control the students. I visited the campus to sit in with my nephew and the student where running not respecting the staff, other students or parents. In the class the students talk back, cuss, I seen one student throwing things and it like back in my day I would have gotten put out the class, wrote up, and suspended and my parent would have had my tail. I'm very disturbed how by how this school allows this type of behavior and do nothing about it even after speaking with them about the issues. My nephew will not be back to this school needless to say. My family cant continue to deal with this its stressful and I don't want my nephew suffering from any form of psychological issues because of this."
"I have to say that do far I'm pleased with the teachers, they are in constant communication via email or phone. The parent portal is very helpful and so far it's updated frequently. My son is enjoying football. His grades are good this 1st 6 weeks. I will keep posting."
"I go to Nichols junior high and to be honest it's not as bad as people say it is. Yes there are fights in the hallway and kids skip class, but so do other kids at other junior highs. The teachers here are really nice and they do care about your future and how you do at school. I really do think your child should go here the teachers are excellent, the students can be a handful but don't blame it on the school"
"Despite the fact that this was my junior high school, I cannot deny the fact that I felt unsafe often times at this school. My memories from there are good, and some of the teachers were good quality. Nonetheless, I was never too impressed with the safety and curriculum of the school. I would take a look at Shackelford Junior High, a safer environment just 7-10 minutes away."
"This school is good. Most teachers here are very kind and caring for the kids education and future. This school is not as bad as everyone says. It's like any other regular middle school. Yes there are fights and some kids that is not respectful for authority, students, and or teachers but not every kid in this school is bad. Not all parents discipline their kids at home so that's why most kids are rowdy and act the way they do. I promise you if you were to go to any other middle school in Texas, the same stuff you see at Nichols is going to be at another school."
