Reviews of Goodwill Store and Donation Center
"I like this Goodwill, but prices are so dang high. So many items there are well over the price for brand new."
"A bit upset about a return. Purchased a paper shredder that didn’t work when I got home. Tried to take it back a week later without a receipt and the manager came over and acted like I was trying to steal from them. She said I needed a receipt plus it looked like I “messed with the tag” on the item. I had to remove the tag to plug the cord into the wall at home. When I asked why they were selling items that didn’t work her response was “we have no idea what people donate or if anything works”. What a JOKE. My wife threw out the receipt and I understand that’s an issue. But the tag was still on it and I do not appreciate the accusation that I was doing something shady. Additionally, you have no problem taking items, tagging them, and taking peoples money yet at no point do you bother to see if anything works or be understanding when I try to return it. Especially frustrating when we have donated thousands of dollars worth of items throughout the years to that same location. Obviously that’s not happening anymore."
"This used to be the absolute best Goodwill to shop in for the entire St Louis area. Infact, I would have people drive in from St Louis just to shop there. They too said it was by far the best one they'd ever been in. Not anymore. Whoever is pricing the items have gotten OUTRAGEOUS with their prices! A used denim jacket off brand $15, a used olive oil dispenser off brand $12. Today I saw a Pyrex dish for $20. Goodwill is supposed to be about thrift buying, SAVING MONEY, not gouging customers and GREED!! SHAME ON YOU GOODWILL! You got everything in your store FOR FREE!! SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING SO GEEEDY!!!!"
"This store is just too small for the amount of people that shop here. Always a line to check out, never waiting less than 15 minutes. Good for the economy I suppose!"
"The MERS Goodwill Thrift Store in The Shops at Hawkridge is a good place to pick up treasures at decent prices. The prices, for the most part, are reasonable for second-hand items. There's a wide variety of items and for those needing inexpensive but good quality clothing items this is the place to be in Lake St. Louis. The bathroom is clean and easy to find in the back of the store. It's a good idea to come back once a month of so to see the new items the store has gotten in."
