Reviews of Smokey Bones Rockford
"Was lucky enough to get Kaitlyn as my server she was truly awesome and she recommended the wings, which were absolutely delicious!! Also got some ribs and they were just right, ended with the Banana Pudding which was the perfect finish!! Over all everything was excellent and I will be back!"
"I went in Thursday night for the rib special and Zoe made my experience A1. I mentioned I wanted to get ribs and she immediately told me their daily special options. She was very kind and attentive with a positive energy , definitely will be requesting her again !"
"We first went here about two years ago. I have to say that the place seems to have changed. First, I want you to say it is not a bad place. The food is decent, thought the meats could use more seasoning to set the different kinds apart. We went for Christmas Eve (2023) and the first thing that I noticed was that every other restaurant in the area was packed, but not this one. (Something that speaks volumes.) The waiter was very friendly but didn’t see to have very good training. We were ready to order for a while but had no one to give an order to. We had multiple issues with our order and many issues with the bill. Two people (separate orders) in our party didn’t get items that they ordered which seemed to be a kitchen problem. The food came out hot and was good. The value seemed to be lacking when it came to the large meat platters. There really should be some kind of side included. When we went to pay, we had many issues with our bill. I am not sure if there was a manager working, but our server did a great job handling all of the mistakes. However, with better training, some of those mistakes could have been avoided. Atmosphere wise, the place is nice but doesn’t seem like the details are important. For example, the projector that displays the logo was apparently no longer working for one reason or another and the floor was very sticky. So this is where you can see that the issues could be fixed from the top down. There was nothing that would keep me from trying it again, but probably not as eager to do so. Give them a try. Maybe your experience would be better!!"
"The food wasn't bad it just wasn't to my tasting, I would say to smokey for me. I had the brisket and sausage. The brisket was a bit dry. the sausage was Okay but dry as well. Mac and cheese could have been Creamier. I will say this after eating more of the brisket and sausage my taste buds started to appreciate. My wife had the steak Which was great! Fries were cold. Place was very clean , atmosphere was good. bathrooms were clean as well. Very nice place I just didn't think the food was as good as it should have been. Unfortunately I don't think we will be back. But thank you smokey bones for feeding me and my wife and giving us a shot at trying your food."
"If you like good barbaque, make it yourself. If you don't have 16 hours this is a pretty good place to go instead! the food was very tasty and large portions too. Wide variety of meats and sides and the drink menu isn't too shabby either! There are a few different sauces on the table for you to choose from or mix and match as you please which I appreciate. The Chipotle sauce or the tried and true hickory KC sauce are tied for my faves. The appetizers are awesome, especially the Korean BBQ pork belly pops. So good I remember their full government name from the menu. Lots of tasty drinks that are reasonably priced when taken into account with the price of the meals. Overall pretty good food, friendly staff, good drinks!"
