"We are so grateful to have our children at Post Oak. My husband is an alum and before we had children, he always said he wanted his children to attend Post Oak because he wanted them to love school the way he did. His wish was granted and both of my children love going to school every day. Our family has always been amazed and grateful for the love and security that Post Oak provides our children, but the pandemic has really shined a light on all of that even more. Having 2 children who both have a chronic illness and are considered high-risk, the decision to send our children to school in-person was a very difficult and scary decision. After seeing the protocols put into place by Post Oak and the cooperation of the community, we had several conversations with the division directors on how we could comfortably send our children back to school. After careful consideration and reviewing Post Oak's protocols with their physicians, we felt confident in the safety measure put into place. Our children have been back in person a little over a year now and not only are they happy and healthy, but we are too. We will forever be grateful for Post Oak for always putting the children first."
"The Post Oak School is an incredible place. Our kids (all graduated or in the high school) have access to travel, internships, ways to connect classroom with the world around them. Students understand that they are being formed and shaped to be contributors to the world in positive ways. My college student was prepared because he knew how to be an active part of his learning and how to connect with people. Great school!"
"We enrolled our children as soon as they were old enough, in part because of my own positive experiences as a Post Oak student in the 1980s. One skill that I unequivocally attribute to Post Oak is an endless curiosity about the world and my place in it; a love of learning for the sake of learning. I have been most impressed by the faculty and their knowledge of my children as individuals. They understand how to motivate my children, and they are committed to nurturing the “whole child.” Post Oak parents care deeply about academics and college admissions, but they care just as much about other important issues, e.g.: Will our children learn to be good people? Will they be self-reliant? Will they be empathetic? Will they contribute to society? The answer to these questions is “yes,” in no small part because Post Oak makes these issues a priority."
"My son graduated from the Post Oak High School after attending River Oaks Baptist through 8th grade. He was somewhat reserved, and his teachers commented that he rarely spoke in class. That is not an option a Post Oak. The classes are small, and the desks are in a circle. Each student presents their thoughts and defends them. Our son is now a very confident speaker and he easily communicates his well thought out views. The school’s philosophy is an extension of Montessori principals, where students are encouraged to explore their own interests. The school supports intern programs in the museum and medical center area. The kids are taught individual responsibility and they plan their own class trips. While there, our son helped start an electric car conversion project where they took out the gas engine and retrofitted the car with an electric motor. He is now studying engineering at UT. The school focuses on getting a student ready for life instead of taking tests. The kids don’t look at life as a series of problems, but rather as opportunities to find creative solutions. My other children attended St. Johns and Episcopal High School. If Post Oak High School was an option then, I would have encouraged them to go there instead."
"After going through a time-consuming application process, we were told that only one, yes ONE, student that was a non-sibling was accepted into the full-time daycare YCC program. From the orientation and tour, they made it seem like half the students that got accepted were siblings while the other half were not. If we had known that there would only be ONE spot available, we definitely would not have wasted our time or money. We feel a little cheated. Just wanted to give other parents a heads up before applying your child here. I really don't know how non-siblings ever get into this school."
