"We came here for a family dinner. This is true and authentic Chinese American food. It's not really for the Panda Express crowd. I ordered wonton soup and it came with chowmein to sprinkle on top. I ordered the House Fried Rice and it was such a huge portion that I had it for breakfast the next day. I could only eat about a third of it. It was extremely good and flavorful. My wife ordered chicken and broccoli with white rice and my daughter ordered the cheeseburger and fries. She loved the cheeseburger and kept telling us to try the fries! My wife wasn't a huge fan of the chicken and broccoli but we will try something else next time. She helped my daughter finish the burger and French fries. We ordered lemonade and sodas for drinks and it was almost 60 dollars out the door before the tip. The atmosphere was quiet with music playing in the background and the lights were dimmed. It was relaxing and fulfilling and I would recommend this restaurant. It reminds me of authentic China Town in San Francisco."
"This amazing place was recommended to me by a friend who is also fond of well appointed, retro establishments. Cozy Inn Chinese Restaurant was a charming call-back to Jet Set days where people dressed up to dine out and carried on interesting conversations with each other. The place was sparkling and immaculately maintained. The food was outstanding as well, each of my four dinner companions having a variety of Chinese-American dishes that were delicious and filling. I drove here from Racine and was so very happy with the experience. Do yourself a favor: fancy yourself up and enjoy this charming, best of yesteryear restaurant in Janesville, Wisconsin."
"I always wanted to check this place out because I heard it's been there for over a 100 years. The food was great, and the wonderful lady that served us was super nice. She kept checking with us, and made sure we we're enjoying our meal. She even packed up our leftovers for us to bring home. The only thing I would change is the lighting because it's a little to dark. I would brighten the restaurant up a tad bit more. Other than that, I really enjoyed the food, and will definitely be visiting again!!"
"This is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the state. I believe it is the oldest continuously operating Chinese American restaurant in the state. This is one of those places that you will want to share with your friends well also keeping it a secret. The dining room is a throwback to an earlier time. The proprietors perform all the duties of the restaurant with great speed. The service is top-notch. They were very accommodating of our somewhat complicated order. The egg drop soup is some of the best we’ve had the eggrolls have a light naughtiness from the peanut sauce inside the eggroll. The hot mustard is memorable and pungent. The entrées are well portioned and steaming hot out of the kitchen. Our dishes were sauced. My one critique is that I normally prefer some other flavor components and brightness to my dishes. the sauces could use a little sweetness and some brightness from ginger or more acid from Chinese vinegar. Most of the flavor seemed to come from oyster sauce, which is obviously a core flavor in Chinese American cuisine."
"This is probably one of the better restaurants in Janesville, but it's not great, just okay. The service is great, very friendly employees. The atmosphere is a little dank, I know it's an old building but it could definitely use a renovation. As for the food, the entrees were pretty good, could use more flavor other than salt, but otherwise they were the best part of the meal. Egg drop soup was pretty good too. The rice that came with the entrees was dry and kind of crusty on top. Also, don't get fried foods, both the egg rolls and rangoons were not very good in terms of the frying and also the flavor of the filling. Overall, I'd be okay with eating here again if somebody asked me to, but probably wouldn't choose to come again on my own."
