"I toured MHFC about 3 times before enrolling my kids, not because I doubted the school but it is quite a distance from our home. We started the Montessori method at around 18mo with my son….At around age 2 my son was having difficulties at his previous Montessori. Drop offs were getting hard and the teachers would try to drag him inside and I would sit in the car and cry and wonder as a parent what am I doing wrong…. I knew I needed to find another place for him. I looked all over sugar land but eventually my heart just brought me back to MHFC. My son toured it with me and within 30 minutes, he knew this is the school he wanted to attend. I listened to him and enrolled him right away…first day he came home and said he loves his class and his teacher and I just cried! I knew he was where he belonged even if it meant I would have to wake up earlier and have a longer drive to get him there. He is now 6 years old and just started elementary with MHFC and was so excited to go back to school! We started my daughter there as well at the age of 1 and I can see the difference in the foundation skills learned through the Montessori methods that my daughter received from MHFC which my son did not receive at the other Montessori he was at. My daughter now in her final year in early childhood is so excited and even more excited she will be attending elementary there in the future!"
"Is the latest strategy to get on top of the Montessori school ratings is to make yourself exclusive and create an elusion that your school only accepts kids IF they meet YOUR requirements? My twin boys (4.5 years old) went through an observation by MHFC's "finest" for an hour each. The teachers gave us a stellar review of the boys and convinced us to fill out an application form for $50 each (non-refundable). They make us wait over the weekend and only to send an automated email to reject their application. How do you reject 4.5 year old kids? Reasons given were "they did not make eye contact with the teacher at all times, they were singing while they were asked to do their work, the teacher couldn't understand what the child was saying" Are these legitimate reasons or were my kids simply victims of a school trying to make itself look exclusive? To the MHFC administration - you need to start looking at who your teachers are and what your hiring practices are. Stop spending parents' tuition on marketing documents/beautifying your school and start using them to pay for GOOD QUALITY teachers. Even my business school and engineering school admissions weren't this strict. Thank you MHFC for rejecting us. We will take our $20k in tuition fees elsewhere. To the parents who have their kids in this school, ask yourselves this question - Should a school be able to judge who they admit and who they don't admit and I am talking about 4.5 year old kids! Maria Montessori must be rolling in her grave #blessingindisguise #profitsovereducation"
"We enrolled our 6 yr old son in the summer program at MHFC. What a fantastic experience! After reviewing several programs in the community, we decided to go with this school. The theme of the program was "Sustainability" and each week they covered disfferent topics with hand on activities around topics such as clean water, good health and well being, life on land/sea, etc. Everyone made our son feel welcome and we couldn't be happier with the teachers (a big ahout out to Ms. Alexandra, Ms. Via and Ms. Marla!). We should also mention that the Head of School and Founder are such wonderful people who truly believe in the mission of the Montessori education. We highly recommend this school!"
"My family has been a part of Montessori House for Children since 2014 and this school has been a real blessing. My two boys are currently in the school and they both are doing excellent. It upsets me to read previous reviews with parents complaining about money. I don't know if you have researched other Montessori schools in the Houston area. I went to plenty of them, talked to the directors, saw the infrastructure, how they apply the Montessori method and this is by far the best school I saw. Have you seen the prices in other schools? tuition if not similar is higher and the quality is not. This school has an excellent infrastructure, Montessori materials, building, has an eco school program, beautiful gardens and more important it has outstanding teachers and administrative staff. They really care about the children and parents. One of the first questions I asked when I had an interview with the owners was teacher rotation. Several of its teachers have been there for many years, some for more than a decade. They may have rotation at the level of assistants, but that is normal for any school. I consider myself a very involved mother. I participate in all school activities, I volunteer a lot and I have never sense any type of bad smell in the school. On the contrary it is always a very clean and neat place. To say is not healthy or that it smells bad ITS JUST NOT TRUE. There are some fundraising activities around the year but all of them are voluntary. The school did changed to an auto pay system. But in my case I talked to the school and explain my personal situation, that didn't allowed to do the auto pay and it was fine. That is the other thing; the school is always open to hear the parents. Every time I have questions or concerns the door have always been open and we have found a solution. Today I went to an observation day at the school. Seeing my oldest son so focused and proud of himself working in the classroom just made my day. My goal as a mother is to educated my boys to be the most integral and complete persons they can be. To respect others, feel empathy, feel comfortable in their own skin and reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives. Montessori House for Children has been and enormous help in this road. I highly recommend this School."
"My husband and I enrolled our son in the toddler program at MHFC a year ago. We have been very impressed with the school and thrilled with our experience there. The teachers are amazing. They provide a warm and engaging environment for the children and are committed to the Montessori philosophy of education. They are caring and knowledgeable, and with their encouragement, our son is developing a strong sense of confidence and independence. He loves going to school and comes home talking about his great teachers and friends. The staff and administrators are also wonderful. They are as friendly and helpful as could be, and our son loves all of those ladies as well. He is a big hugger, and they are always happy to hug him back! We feel fortunate to have found such an exceptional school where our child is happy and thriving!"
