Dr. Carlos Almaguer, MD 2300 South McColl Road, McAllen, TX 78503

"The reason for the rating is due to the staff NOT Dr. Almaguer, he is amazing and so helpful and knowledgeable in his field, I respect him and his professionalism. My last appointment was July 15 (Thursday). I got out probably around 5pm, I called them that same day regarding my prescription not being sent to Walgreens. Got the runaround to wait a little longer for them to appear on Walgreens end. Friday come around I call and receptionist told me over the phone they couldn’t resend prescriptions on Friday due to doctor not being in to give the authorization. I made the front desk aware that I need my prescriptions ASAP as I will be leaving on a 10 day trip Wednesday (tomorrow July 21) and wanted to try my medications out before leaving in case getting any reactions. I keep in contact with Walgreens Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday… NOTHING FROM DOCTORS OFFICE WAS EVER RECEIVED @ pharmacy. I call Monday speak to same receptionist she says doctor is not in and they still can’t resend them!! It is now Tuesday, I call @ 11:18AM, speak with same receptionist says she will give doctor the message and give me a call back… and I never get the call so I call back @ 3:55PM since their office closes @ 5PM get the same receptionist and says she’ll call me back and give doctor the message, I let her know of their office hours and she said she’d call me back.. NEVER DID. I CALL BACK @ 5:32PM same girl and same thing will give doctor message and call me back but didn’t. I call again @ 6:33PM, finally someone else receives my call and this girl says she’ll resend prescription as she did over the same call to CVS. I’ve been in contact with CVS 2x now 1st @ 6:25pm and again @ 9:34pm and they’ve too received no prescriptions. Although the lady I’ve been in constant communication from their front desk is helpful in keeping my nerves at ease, it is now July 20th (Tuesday 9:52PM) and NOW the new pharmacy I requested they send my prescriptions to, CVS, has not received my prescriptions either!!! I had to leave a review seeing that someone isn’t doing their job correctly and it’s been soooo many days now I’m constantly calling in, I feel stupid at this point!!!"

"I first went to Dr. Almaguer last year.  Wait time varies like a typical doctor's office, staff is professional. Love that the location looks and feels like an antique/modern home inside and out, comfortable seating and lighting.  I am very grateful to Dr. Almaguer, he discovered I had severe endometriosis last year when I was 26.  After two children, having this diagnoses and talking about the options, risks and benefits I felt confident in him proceeding to perform a Total Hysterectomy leaving my ovaries intact.  I am now 27 and my scar from the surgery is almost gone and I my quality of life has increased dramatically, one of the best decisions I've ever made.  GOD bless you Dr. Almaguer, Thank you."

"I waited 2 hours while the doctor was in office and there were a total of 3 patients, including me. I was texted, emailed and called to confirm appointment several times. I eventually ignored the notices. The patient history interview took FOR-EVER!! While waiting, I could hear him talk to his staff. He was choosing scents for the office and apparently they had ran out of lavender. I waited another 30 minutes wearing only the hospital gown. That's when I finally lost it and left without being seen. They didn't even try to stop me or apologize. The place is huge with beautiful antiques and spa looking rooms with what seemed velvet upholstery. You would think that someone with so much money would invest in customer service .... he is investing in his financial portfolio, instead. Ugh!"

"The staff is great at reminders and so polite. Thank you ladies for being so professional. The office is clean and so relaxing. I'm so glad I switched doctor even thou the wait is pretty long, but I'm being treated like a human not a number. I went to 2 different doctors and no one could ever get to the source of my problem. Dr. Almaguer was patient and listened to my issue and he got to the source of the problem promptly and now I'm feeling ecstatic. Such a blessing to have switched."

"My wife and I had made an appointment to see Dr. Almaguer do to infertility issues. On our first visit we knew we had made a great choice by seeing him because of how attentive he was to us. It was a little bit of a wait but with such a great doctor and staff it was worth it. I would highly recommend this physician."
