J.O. Davis Elementary School

"I can very proudly say that I am an alumni of J.O. Davis School. When I attended it serviced the African American community of Bear Creek Texas. And it went from kindergarten to the 12th grade and our mascot was the mighty Bruins. It was a very different time in history and the teacher's we had were above excellence. But given today's time of Social and economic changes and the high-tech world we live in I agree with their current rating of J.O Davis Elementary School."

"1. They lost my daughter on the second day of school. 2. Her second grade teacher isn’t fully certified to actually teach. 3. I can’t call and get a simple yes or no as to whether or not my child has enough money to afford lunch for the day. Kids who don’t have enough money only get a cheese sandwich. Not a grilled cheese but a literal slice of cheese on a piece of bread... But they go through great lengths to ask you to pay $2 to allow your kid to wear jeans for a day. I was once impressed by this school and their efforts to make a good learning environment now..."

"It is alright but my teacher, ms.douglas will not let me do safety patrol cause I won't apologize to the principal for doing nothing but it is okay cause I don't feel like wasting my time being a crossing gaurd or pulling up a flag and putting it down boring"

"This school does a horrible job at assuring your child is safe. They will lose your child. My child wears a name tag I made that hangs from a lanyard that identifies what childcare should be picking her up and they still tried to put her on the wrong daycare van. In addition, the teachers never seem to get to their duty post on time to monitor the hallways. I have witnessed children as young as kindergarten having to run across the crosswalk in front of traffic alone because no one was there to assist them. Also, if you are a parent who spends your hard earned money on all those school supplies more than half of them will be given to someone else's child who did not spend a dime on school supplies. The kindergarten class size is over the limit. I attended a Christmas Program for my daughter that lasted 7 minutes and was extremely disappointed since they sent a letter home threatening to put a negative mark on her report card and conduct if she did not participate. My daughter also was allowed to leave school without her coat and hat on an extremely cold day and when she asked if she could return to pick it up she was told no and to exit the school. She has been sick with a runny nose and cough due to people sending their kids to school sick and the nasty environment. She has been around other kids in daycare since she was a baby and never got as sick as she has since attending this school."

"My son started at J.O.Davis the year it reopened in 1991. Every teacher and staff member were beyond wonderful with his disability of hearing impairment unlike the other schools he gradually moved onto to. He had the best of the best education."
